A replacement shift selector did cure the issues, it now shifts smoothly into every gear (except second but I knew that was crunchy).

I have a full set of the factory service manuals for the 900, 79-?. Multiple binders so it would be pretty heavy to ship, I can get a quote if interested.

The battery terminals were tight, maybe a wire at the battery cutoff switch came loose. I'll have to check it out when I get a battery for it.

I decided to do a little work on the Saab today. I got the header back on and finished hooking the wiring up in the engine bay. Looks like an ebay copy of a Recaro to me. Some of them can be good seats for the money though, I have a knockoff Bride seat in my Miata and it is great.
