Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

This thread was kind of just a pipe dream. I don't know if it will ever happen, but it sure inspires some interesting ideas of how to make it so. Yes, but it would be quite fun! I understand the minor problem of building a car like that. My car has been standing under a cover for over 2 years so I ...

Re: Reinforced rear axle

My theory is . Since the hub is located in the middle of the top trailing arm and the bottom one with the axle it self and the top arms are going backwards and the bottom are going forward I believe that. The axle must "twist" when you go around corners and when it twists it maybe changes ...

Yes I could but since my English is not the best I did read a little wrong.
Obviously Nate did mention the std oil cooler so I feel a little stupid writing it again :dunno:

Re: Need to read some rulebooks!

As airsweden said "Rallycross cars get beat up pretty quick." , therefore the finish of the parts. The windscreen etc. PC plastic = polycarbonate, such as lexan or makrolon you can buy them as "scratch free" twice the price and not as good as a proper glass screen but very much l...

Re: Trans Cooler Size

Hi !
Why do you not use the original one ?
L:290mm H:68mm W:50mm
It looks the same as the original cooler for the engine oil but it is located on the other side of the car ( right side).
There is even pre made holes in all bodies to assemble it.

Re: Strongest Gearbox Possible

Hi ! I have a crazy idea´ of maybe get a modern gearbox from example BMW or what ever is small enough that will take the power and torque that I wan´t. Then cut away as much as I need to from the old gearbox and then weld in the new one... Of course you probably have to "line hone" ( is th...

Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

The Ferrari 550 which is a very nice car to drive(my mother could drive it) has a v12 engine, 485 bhp, 419 lbs/ft, curb weight 3726 lbs, 0-60 4,3 sec and top speed 199 mph. Unfortunately I have never been able to test drive my dream car the Jaguar XJ220. My favorite car The Jaguar XJ220 has a v6 eng...

Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

I looked in a instruction book for the saab 900 1988. There I could read that with the 5speed gearbox called M5E and tyres 195/60,(probably 15" rims standard) the speed at 1000 rpm should be: 1 gear 9 kmh 2 gear 15 kmh 3 gear 23 kmh 4 gear 32 kmh 5 gear 39 kmh reverse 8 kmh If so , you would ha...

Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

yea but a big block is a big block, a lot of torque and bhp and that is far from the SAAB 900 Now we are going to help our friend to reach 200+ mph not tell him how many cars that already done it. I am probably very impolite, I´m sorry. This sentence only made it worse I guess :P . But I would reall...

Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

Yes the 178mph is what I heard but... The latest rumour here is a 325 BMW non turbo that delivers +1000 bhp... I don´t believe that either. The venturi tunnel (thank you Geoff), something like this http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/201006/ferrari-360-spider-g_460x0w.jpg Or rather like this maybe...

Re: 200+ MPH in a C900?

I say go for it! :yay: I have heard people here in Sweden claim that they have been doing like 178mph with #8 primary with roughly 400hp and beating BMW m3´s and m5´s at top speed... However I don´t know if it´s true. I would strongly recommend Rallyho´s advise, make the car smooth. And build a &quo...

Re: Are Carbs a step backwards?

If I where you and would like to build something with carburetors I would forget all car carburetors. When was the last time the they used it successfully in a car? The motorcycles has used it much longer and they have a lot of bhp/litre. What I mean Is that the car carb´s stopped it´s evolution in ...

Yes! so it is , right now she spends a lot of time with my bolt assortment which means I have a lot to do in the garage, not with things I want to do however.
