And, now it's for sale. It's been fun.

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
Geoff, power varies with the air temp, but it's putting out about 95hp on a good cold day with the standard head. We're putting on a Monte Carlo head with this round of refurbishment. You've got the high points on the engine build. Bud Clark did the Stage-3 porting and the assembly. Externally, we u...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
Had a fairly good weekend at 100AW this year. We were able to recce most of the stages in the truck, unescorted, which is an improvement over last year where we only got to recce about four stages behind an escort before it got too dark and icy for us to continue. Friday we completed all the stages....

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
...you should be able to get some rally tires that will fit well. Look into Dmack or bfg rally tires. At the time of the build we though about running modern tires, but they just don't fit a Historic class car in spirit, or in this case, at all. The rear fender is very tight and except for snow or ...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
No, the one where we got stuck was similar but at 9:30 at night and everything had refrozen. We're running Mickey Thompson Mini Mag tires. Fairly tall and stiff with a zig-zag rib pattern. OK for gravel, but I couldn't think of a worse treaded tire for the 100AW conditions this time. Had I know Bria...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
We did it. 100 Acre Wood Rally is in the bag. The conditions changed during our drive up. A huge cold front dropping inches of sleet covered Missouri the night we arrived. Recce was done in a truck and we only finished half the stages due to the weather, ice covered roads and the unsuitability of dr...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
Worried about carb icing with the cold and wet conditions and the open element air cleaner. Craig bent up this shroud to pull hot air off the exhaust manifold and head. It's connected by three quarter turn fasteners so it's easy to remove for service or changing conditions. Also put the block off pa...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
I have to give a tip of my hat to Jack Christensen of Time Wise Rally Computers for all the fixes and modifications to the old Terra Trip. Jack not only did the fixes we needed in a creative manner, he also suggested a number of modifications to make it more robust.

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
While I've had my fair share of modern Terra Trips, none of the computers has crapped out on me. Seems it's always the sensors, or the sensor install, that fails. This Terra Trip does what all rally computers do. It's a very fancy odometer. You can't see it because of the angle I took the picture, b...

Re: 63 Bullnose Rally Project
The engine is actually a later two-stroke from a non-bullnose. We've squeezed it into our bullnose. The only body modification was having to lose the window shade on the front grille. We were able to keep the distributor shield after a little judicious repositioning. The water pump is stock to the l...
