Every case crack. The large case cracks like all others. The KS cases have better casting. (The threads don´t fail that easy)
Saab weld the first cases. And I think It was not so easy to weld alu in 1978, and they only used Alumasc castings for the S&R cases.

I think you have to machine the main case to use the new gearset. 1 or 2 mm. Inch?
Messure from the top of the case to the edge of the lay shaft hole.

You can use the camshaft chain from the OG900, 9K 16V turbo from iwis.
But you need the tool.

Maybe other cars have the same chain. (Download the Iwis catalog)

No, the early one use 20x26x20, the late 20x28x20 same as the late 5 speed og900.

Its 24500 Sek inc swedish 25% tax.

You can use orginal pinion and change the primary chain.
