spring cup strengthening
I was told at the weekend that the 99 required the spring cups strengthening. I am not too sure what was ment by this. It could be front lower seats, but more likely the rear spring cups either in the body or the trailing arm. Anyone with any clues????? The guy said his car had the delivery van stre...

rear beam strengthening
Has anyone welded some form of support up the back of the upright that the axle and upper control arm mounts to? It looks quite weak to me.

Re: New Look for 2012
So are your arches std, but you just use the extensions over the top? Just wondering what to do with mine, at the moment I was looking at cutting flares off.

Re: Sunroof delete
No-doubt bonding in a factory with tested and correctly designed parts/agents work. How many of us have that facility? The rest of the roof is going to bend, do you have a piece that bends with it or a stiff bit that doesnt. Basically you will end you with alot of stress around the edge that joins t...

Re: Sunroof delete
I wouldnt take the chance of bonding it in, I have seen some pretty big crashes which will bend the cage and crisp packet the roof. That's the day which tests out how strong you built the car and can be the difference between walking away or not. Just look for the photo of Per Eklunds orange v4 roll...

Re: High misalignment monoballs for rear axle upper links
Regarding the 99, you need to look at the arc lengths of the main trailing arms and how they apply to the axle position at your normal ride height. Basically you would be looking at the arc driving the axle rearward as the wheel moves up. If you increase this you should get more steering, but it mig...

Re: High misalignment monoballs for rear axle upper links
Chris uses 10mm on his longnose race car and I have some 5mm ones and thy help the turn-in to a corner. You will probably have to pack the centre bracket back on a 96 as lowering it makes the axle swing round an arc and therefore away from the car (hard to explain).

Re: Sunroof delete
Then you will find out how good saab spot welds are! Its alot easier to fill the sunroof area than replace the roof skin. Just think about how your repair will stand up to a roll. If the panel is riveted on I think you would need it riveting so it is mounted to the outside of the roof panel. There i...
