Re: Two classic SAAB's at New England Forest Rally- Both Finish!
that 'tired rally motor' (6 or 8 rallies, bunch of rallycross events with 4 different drivers, bmw track day with 2 different drivers where we corded the tires, turned the brake rotors blue and mike broke the shifter after 8 track sessions) came out of my car ... in 2004.. sat in storage.. got dropp...

Megasquirt and an NA 16v
First.. good job to Luke and Mike for surviving NEFR, it's not a very forgiving event and this year did some damage for sure... So, as a result of losing the water pump belts, its now time to replace the 8v rally motor with a 16v motor with ITB's that Luke made for us.... The team needs help with fu...

Re: Halloween Stages Rally--DOH!
i removed a broken water pump from my 78 99 by drilling straight down through the shaft... tapping the hole to accept some sort of long bolt and then used a slide hammer to 'gently' pull it out.. this was with the 12 cog and the motor in the car... it worked, no problem but i did have to be careful...

Re: Funny transmission noise
i had a 5 speed from an 87 that had the same kind of sound.. turned out to be the bearings in the aluminum lower chainwheel (?) support at 5th gear. the bearings on the shaft that the lower chainwheel bolts to. it's 2 tapered roller bearings and if they lose their preload they can make all kinds of ...

Re: 99 Brake upgrades

while it makes sense to re-inforce the rear axle beam i wonder what the best solution would be... my experience has been 2 kinds of failures from 2 very different forces... a side load from a hard lateral shot to a wheel (curb, rock etc...) and as mike and i discovered inadequate bump stops (sound f...

thanks luke for that... the car was the loudest at the dyno shop they ever had, and they laughed at me when i signed the waiver and told them i hoped to break 100 hp at the wheels... oh and those stock wheels are so soft... i'd bend everyone of them i brought to a rally (usually 12-14) i wouldn't re...
