Re: Per, the 77 99 Rally
Too bad with the blown head gasket. I'm sure you will figure out a new powerplant for the 99. Bring the 99 to SOC. Chi's SOC only had one "99" which was pretty much just the shell with a V8 engine RWD. Cool car, but not a true 99.

Tappet (follower) smack tool
INA Hydraulic cam followers (tappets) have a plunger valve that needs to be removed to properly clean the inner well of the assembly. Pliers are not a great option as they can burr the plunger and it is hard to get a good grip. I tried the suggested compressed air or magnet, but they did not work fo...

Re: Per, the 77 99 Rally
Happy New Year John. Way to kick 2024 off with a little b-motor bang. I did a bunch of work on my 99t with b-motor last summer. She had been a garage queen for the past 12ish years.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Project update after 2 years since the last post. Not a lot to report, which is good in my opinion. No issues other than I had to remove the header, mid pipe and down pipe to pull the engine for a gearbox swap. That oem log header was looking good about 1/2 way thru the process. Last summer ...

Re: C900 gearbox girdle
The girdle has not put any adverse loads or effect on the box. +1200 miles from Seattle Wa to Sturgis SD and all is well. 94F ambient air temperature and the gearbox is doing fine. Couple steep long grades I saw 220F gearbox temp. Activated the oil cooler system and dropped it down to 200 with a two...

Re: C900 gearbox girdle
Sounds good. Also, happy to look over the pics once you get it sorted...may be able to make some suggestions where manufacture could be simplified and cut costs. I'd be up for that. The first one was totally a design as you build. Love having a bandsaw, belt grinder, and a TIG machine. You can do a...

Will do, road trip to South Dakota this summer and later on some dyno testing/tuning with the new ECU and intake. We will see what kinda power the gearbox setup will take?
Thanks for the interests.

Re: C900 gearbox girdle
So far everything is fitting. I got the oil cooler lines fitted without too much hassle. Exhaust hanger and mid pipe went back in with good clearances. Filled with oil a few days ago and as expected no drips. Ironically I used 76 gear oil 75w-90 that was sent from Jorgen Eriksson from Sweden as a bo...

Re: Clutch slave failures...WTF?
How are the Master or the flex line? Could be sending junk to the slave? I added a pedal stop when I ran my Quarter Master setup. It just did not need much travel to disengage.

Re: C900 gearbox girdle
Update, 30 months after completion it is finally installed in the car. I was second guessing myself in thinking the steering rack and the gussets would crash. Only one way to find out. She is right up there, but I have clearance. Under 3/8 of an inch. I have a hockey puck front motor mount, so I thi...

Re: rally 99 primary drive ratio
Hi, been a while since visiting (too long actually). Finally fitted the primary ratio I made for the 99 rally car and WOW, what a difference! Thought i had a 31:30 fitted but found it was a 31:26. I made ( with Dennis's help) a 30:31. Glad to help, great you got it fitted. A bit more of a process t...

Re: Bespoke Intake Manifold B202
My pile of F'ups is quite large! But I'm a slow learner. I'm waiting for you to build a manifold for GSX-R ITBs so I can buy your first attempt. ;) Still bummed your original wastegate setup wouldn't work in my 99... Keep the pile, you never know something might turn into something completely diffe...
