Fart-hinder Racing Saabs
The Fart-hinder Racing Saab 9-3 (a.k.a. Fart-kontroll) did pretty well at our first race of the season, a pair of ChumpCar 7-hour endurance races at Road America. Not easy to keep up with the modified BMWs in our stock 9-3, but we got through the weekend with no extra time in the pits. Finished 12th...

Re: Headwaters Rally
I ran the first Headwaters Rally in my 1979 Saab 99. Very stock, so it didn't do all that well. My co-driver was Eric Carlson (not Erik Carlsson). My brother Mike drove it one year as well. I won't be at Headwaters this year as Fart-hinder Racing will be competing at Brainerd International Raceway i...

Re: Pistons for a 2.1L / B212
The 2.1L pistons are 93mm, while the 2.0L pistons are only 90mm.
Haven't checked part numbers, but are the B-engine pistons (thru 1980) the same as the B201 (a.k.a H-engine) and B202 pistons? The diameter should be the same, but what about other specs?

Pistons for a 2.1L / B212
I have several serviceable engine blocks and crankshafts for my '92 900S ChumpCar, but the pistons are looking kind of dismal. I can locate piston rings (or have been able to in the past) but pistons are nowhere to be found. Anyone know of a good substitute? Cheap is important as this is Chumpcar ra...

It looks a bit like Targa Newfoundland, with the craggy hills and water in the background.

Re: 85 900 Notchback arrives in Vermont
Tried to sell an '85/'86 notchback shell on eBay not so long ago. Offered it at the scrap metal price and had no bids. I still haven't hauled it away, but as soon as I pull the gas tank it's off to the recycler. Maybe the Northern Minnesota location scared people off? Or is there not enough interest...

Re: 2.5 Monster Motor
Might as well weigh in here. My knowledge of Saab powerplants fades in the early 1990s to no knowledge beyond about 1997. I am looking to build a better race engine for the 1992 Saab 900 ChumpCar formerly known as Fart-hinder Racing. I have one complete 2.1L very stock and high mileage engine in the...

Re: ChumpCar - Fart-hinder Racing
We could use a knowledgeable Saab tech as part of our crew. Four of the other drivers own Porsches.
Herm Johnson & I are both working as taxi drivers these days, so we may add a TAXI roof light.

Re: ChumpCar - Fart-hinder Racing
Time for an update. The next ChumpCar race for Fart-hinder Racing is July 16 at Brainerd, a 14-hour enduro. We have six drivers, including myself and former CART ChampCar driver Herm Johnson. One of them is sponsoring the car so he and his son can get a chance to drive. Still having issues over an e...

Re: Anyone we know? or knew?
Tim Scheib from Appleton, Wisc., built that car in the early 1980s and rallied it for several years. He also drove it at the St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Race a time or two. Tom Gillespie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, bought it about 1988. I co-drove for Gillespie at the 1988 Ojibwe Forests Rally where we ...

Re: ChumpCar - Fart-hinder Racing
Fetched the fart-hinder Saab out of its winter resting place (under a snowbank which has now melted) and got it home this weekend.

Looking for one more driver for the Brainerd Races, June 4-5 and July 17 (I think). Send me a message if interested.

Minnesota Winter Rallye - Jan 15-16, 2011
Yep, TWO (2) days. Duluth to Grand Marais on Saturday, Grand Marais to Duluth on Sunday. Utilizing roads in the Superior National Forest. This is a TSD (average speed) rally, so no roll cages nor other racing gear is required.

I have located a couple decent caps in the garage. They have made it into a box and into the car, but not to the Post Office yet.

Re: Shelby Center Caps and Lug Nuts
I have a bunch of the OE Shelby caps, broken ears and all. I may have a full set of NEW lug nuts for them as well. I have at least 3 sets of 8-spoke wheels. I suppose I should get rid of some as I doubt I will need that many. None are in good condition as far as looks, but I'm pretty sure they are a...
