I've got quite a few inner drivers but I suspect yours were cheaper...

Re: SOS 78 Turbo, Help!! Water Pump removal Type III

You're lucky the engine is out. Remove the jackshaft very carefully. Then you can use pretty much anything to hoick the pump out. There's 2 holes in the impeller which may be of use to hook the pump out with.

However, because the tip of the shaft is missing makes me wonder if the pump is seized.

Re: scan-tech

I've heard from a couple of sources that scan-tech are no more.

Yet their website is still going a couple of years later

Re: should I skip the 99T lambda system to get more power?

Pedant mode: K-Jetronic is a type of Continuous Injection System :) But yes, pretty much interchangeable terms :) The US 4 port fuel dissy has a lower capacity. The 6 port (with 2 blanked off) can flow that much more for higher output. Or if you really want to go to town, get one off a Porsche 928 -...

Re: should I skip the 99T lambda system to get more power?

A standard non-US K-jet is good for at least 175bhp (I added APC for peace of mind) with no modifications. With mods such K-Star 220bhp is perfectly doable.

Re: should I skip the 99T lambda system to get more power?

I think you'll also find your car has a 4 port fuel dissy, whereas the non-US ones have 6 port.

Re: 1978 Saab 99t

DO NOT USE A SLIDE HAMMER! :)

Do you think you need vented discs? Parts are much harder to find and I've never had any overheating issues.

Re: 78 Turbo DD "Outlaw"

Oh I won't complain if you stick a boring engine in ;)

Mine will always be a B and always have the original wastegate.

And most of the time be ~175bhp

79- 99T's have the boost retard as well. I retrofitted mine. Didn't notice anything much :)

Re: 78 Turbo DD "Outlaw"

Looks an interesting project. Why no B engine though? That's the heart of a 99T in my humble opinion :)

I always like the OEM look though :)

Re: pair of Combi Coupé tail light lenses

I'll have a think. Future proofing my own car is important, but I need the money :bawl:

Another thing to bear in mind, it cost me £130 just to post the lenses to Australia, US may be similar...

Re: pair of Combi Coupé tail light lenses

Can kind of relate - I sent a pair to Australia recently. I thought they were packed ok, but the postage people still crushed it and damaged one :( And refused payment because the saab pack said glass (even though it's plastic!). I have a couple of pairs of new ones but want to future proof my car. ...
