Re: who all is running T5 heads on b202's??
yup, I wasn't sure how much to weld in/out so made it slightly larger. figured I would just shave off the extra. At the time all I had was a mig welder and as you can see from the pictures pretty ugly though more than strong enough. As to CNCing up a few. If I remember it only took maybe 20min to cu...

Re: who all is running T5 heads on b202's??
So, I started this project 2 years ago. Maybe 3 now. I ported the head so the ports are huge. Not good for low end torque unless you have really long runners. Hence the reason why I haven't done anything. I've been tooling up last few years. here are some pictures. This is a ported 2.0 vs the 2.3L #...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
Nope, I haven't. I was almost thinking of going with a lighter preload spring and adding in another clutch disk.
I'll email Tom today.

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
Hello all, Been a long time. I've been wrapped up with one project after another (non car of course) and figured it was time for an update. The Heavyweight oil seems to have an advantage over stock oil, or the maxgear 75w-90 and several others I have tried. I can tell you the shift quality is best w...

Re: Saab 4x108 hub/bearing questions
The bearing is pressed into the knuckle and held with 2 c clips. The inner hub portion is also pressed into the bearing. The bearing is an inner split race type and is held together with the CV joint and the CV nut adding the force. I don't have any new ones in stock to measure and they are ruined t...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
As to oil temps and shifting. Since the install of the newer 89 transmissions (since 4th gear blew in the other one). The question has come up as to shift quality vs warm oil. Well, in a previous post I said there really isn't a difference. Well there is. When cold it is notchty beyound belief. As t...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
The galling of the surfaces I would assume as standard fair. As to the lack of lubrication. Not on my part. I have never had a box fail from no oil. I believe it's do to the springs braking an acting as chisels. The brineling. Well you guess is as good as mine. On the parts disassembly the inside of...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
Sorry about the link. I have fixed it for the moment. I'm using Google Picasa3 and not sure really how reliable it is for picture server. Funny thing is this morning I really didn't notice any difference cold or hot. I was actually very surprised at how thick this stuff is. The trans does sound a li...

Re: blew another tranny.
I know I asked this question on another post, Now that people are actually installing the diffs what are people using for pumps? I am now looking at a power steering pump or engine oil scavenging pump since these are belt drive. Also will feed a split line between front chain cover entering right ab...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
So here are the pictures I promised. As you can see one side really took a beating. Dawns on me now that I should have paid attention to which was which. I believe the totally fractured one was from the opposite side of the ring gear. Also, started to run Redline Heavyweight shockproof today. Man is...

Re: blew another tranny.
I have an engine oil temp gauge and it never reaches above 230F ever. Even with really hard driving. I'm talking all out 3rd gear 5-6k RPM's for 5-8 miles. Usually its in the 200-225 range. I've got and oil cooler :yay: I also run either Mobil 1 10W30 winter, spring and fall and if I'm going to be b...

Re: Gripper Limited Slip Technical Thread
I thought about getting a hold of Tom and at some point probably will. I just know he is hard to deal with though I shouldn't let the past, dictate the future. Would anybody else want anything? So, What it looks like is with repeated hitting of the back side ramp angle is what chipped the area away....

Re: later style oil cooler for 91 turbo
yeah, the early ones have the banjos. I'm looking for the later model with the oring and thimble type. I think I may just move onto the -8 AN and just do an after market one. ]
Mine has been leaking for about a year. But is really bad now. YIKES

Re: blew another tranny.
As to being all torqued out. Rosie hasn't been feeling well the last month or so. She isn't her usual torqey self. There is a fueling issue somewhere. checked all the wiring but still know luck. As to oil cooler. Nope never did get it installed. Been involved with so many other things and with the n...
