Re: Twin Scroll Turbo

I like the additional mad scientist vibe the coiled tubing gives.

I had to do something like that at work and used some sleeves made out of coiled wire that help support the tube to prevent kinking. They worked pretty well. McMaster # 2420A17

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

It's been a while since we had a '99 9-3 but I seem to remember there being some relays under the knee bolster panel under the steering column. So maybe some wiring is rubbing/caught on the column?

You might try FIX in Keene. The owner, Jonah, is a good guy and he's into old SAABs

Re: Winter Tires

You probably want to search for the Altimax Arctic 12 (former Gislaved Nordfrost 100), the old Altimax Arctic are probably discontinued.

Also, mushy snow tires = grip = :luke:
firm snow tires = slip = :barf:

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Sometimes fuel pumps will shut off when they get hot and then work fine once they cool off.

Re: clutch cover. I've cut a few to make them easier to get on/off.

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Ha, I vote for the tree method! That kind of reminds me of one of the first vehicles I ever drove, an M35 "Deuce and a Half". The owner told me (in a thick northern NH accent), "The nice thing about a truck like this is all you have to do is back up until you hit something. Then you k...

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

'99 9-3: Follow Sam's advice on getting it running. The P0133 code may not have anything to do with it. Once you get it back running again you may still get that code. We used to see that code a lot on our '99 9-3 and eventually I found a post somewhere on the internet that said that the ground wire...

Re: Winter Tires

Dunlop is more a blend of an all season type material and snow tire booo! Has anyone tried the 'ecostuds' that Nokian offers? I'm curious how they are with retention in the tire. I think they were first released on the Hakka 4 or 5 (or maybe that was the square studs). Like Beckmang I'm a few...

Re: Winter Tires

Dunlop is headquartered in Ohio. They don't get much snow there. If you want real winter tires go with a Scandinavian tire; Nokain or Gislaved. If you want to save some $ Nokian sells their older designs under the "Nordman" brand and Gislaved sells theirs under the "General Altimax Ar...

Re: Weird Electrical Gremlins

I've seen a few C900s where strange things would happen when the wrong bulbs (reverse, brake, turn signal, etc.) were used. Strange things like the headlights would only come on when the turn signal was on or the reverse lights would come on when the brakes were applied.

Re: Electric Power Steering

I've done some thinking about this in the past. My thought is that the easier way to go would be to use the stock rack and add in column assist electronic power steering. You can buy them for hotrods but they're pretty $. Looks like you can pull one from a junkyard Prius though. https://www.ebay.com...

Re: 75 99 build

I think that '77 Test car on Popple Dungeon Road was for sale ~5 years ago and nobody bit. Then I think it sold ~4 years ago to someone else in VT. I saw a blurry picture at the time. It was hard to tell how rough it was. If it's a real '77 Test car you've found, I wouldn't strip it unless absolutel...

Kind of strange results.
A car with mismatched bumpers and a hand-painted flag on the roof wins best time capsule. And a car wins best truck.
