Surprisingly easy fix for the gauges, I thought I threw this DIN cage thing out in the great parts purge but I found it in a box of misc stuff. I should really know to disconnect the battery when I do this job as I've done it a handful of times, but without fail I forget and blow the fuse for the radio power when soldering in the new harness. That definitely sounds like a good solution, even better if they offer some sort of warranty on the engine, but theres definitely a lot of value in just having it done right the first time.
