Re: Engine Rebuild Stand
Haha, thats definitely true. Fortunately, I don't think Ill be tempted to make version 4 any time soon, because making all the housings would definitely open the possibilities and clean up the look. The rotisserie possibility definitely crossed my mind. It wouldn't be that hard to make a matching st...

Re: Engine Rebuild Stand
Next up I needed to order a few things to put together a handle for the drive. Having used the sunex stand mentioned above, one thing I found frustrating was the really crap crank handle. The gearbox has a shaft with a keyway for driving the worm gear. I decided to try making the handle out of steel...

Re: Engine Rebuild Stand
Thanks, the shop space has been great. We moved in back in November and it was the first time we had a space where we could keep all of our stuff in one spot. So much easier than having stuff spread over multiple locations... My obsession with building a better engine stand started with seeing Lukes...

Re: Engine Rebuild Stand
Next up was to weld the faceplate on, and then reassemble what I had so far and figure out how to mount the gearbox, which is a 60:1 worm gear set in a cast iron housing. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49729746176_94e91ce793_c.jpg"%20width="600"%20height="800"%20alt=&qu...

Engine Rebuild Stand
With some extra time over the last couple weeks to spend in the workshop, I decided it would be a good opportunity to tackle some projects I had on the long term list. The first of which was a new engine stand, which would be attempt number three for me, and I had decided I would only do it if I cou...

Am I the only person that feels like the 3in belts actually work better with the HANS (brand) device than the 2" Hans belts?

Re: Sleepy Gulch
I have a lot of projects I would like to do with my car, but Im sort of at a point where I want my own space to work in. Not real into renting something, but Im looking at options for purchasing/building. In the mean time I joined the 9-5 owners out there back in September with an Aero wagon 5spd, a...

Re: Full Colorado Red Leather Interior
Ooooh, I really would like those, but making it out to pick them up would not work at the moment.
Any chance you would want to hold on to them until June? I'll be in PA for STPR.

Re: C900 gearbox girdle
I had a 5 speed fail in that area on my car. The case and right side inner driver were cracked and the driver pushed out .5". Probably not what most would consider a high HP car either, with maybe 200hp? for the time that box was in. However, the car gets a good share of abuse, and the box had ...

I'm in the market for a lathe (used) and figured you guys might have some suggestions on what brands/features, tooling etc. to look for or stay away from.

Re: gear kits
I was running the stock R&P with the 31:30 primary and didn't have issues with the first gear. It was a bit of a pain to get moving at Mt. Washington when we were staged half way up the mountain for practice runs, but not doable. It really just makes it feel more like a lot of other race cars I'...

Re: Metal Working Tools
I recently purchased one of these. (8" version) http://www.woodwardfab.com/product-category/product/sheet-metal-shearing-tools/throatless-hand-shear/ It was on sale which was nice. The 3/16" capacity is actually nice to have. Not as good at intricate work on thinner metal compared to the o...

Re: gear kits
Well those are cool. I'd be interested, but might be tough as I already have one of the reproduction gear kits.
