Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
This is fascinating stuff. You are pairing the complementary cylinders to each side of the twin scroll. With the twin scroll your hoping to see benefits with lower cylinder temps, EG temps, leaner air fuel ratio and ultimately greater turbine efficiency? Interesting to compare the different approach...

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Nice mockup of the exhaust manifold. Have you attempted to get each runner of a similar (almost equal) length?

Re: Dimensions of Wilwood Powerlite Adapter
Just checked back through posts re: the adapters and it would appear it was Luke who made the 1st lot then Crazyswede did another run. Apologies.
Just want to check dimensions and clearances in CAD as plan on getting my own set machined along with a load of other parts.

Re: Dimensions of Wilwood Powerlite Adapter
Could you 3d print your adapter and them test fit it on the rear axle? I do have access to 6 3d printers so I would glad to help you is you need a print done. I can also test fit it on to a 99 rear axle, I still have my 78 axle in storage. I am currently running 88 SPG rear axle on mine. Axxis Brak...

Dimensions of Wilwood Powerlite Adapter
Have drawn up an adaptor in CAD (see render below -my design is slightly different) to mount the Wilwood Powerlite caliper to the rear of a 99. Have utilised measurements from the caliper diagram on the Wilwood website + measurements taken from the rear axle. I was hoping that someone (I think it wa...

Re: what do you cover welds with?
If the rust is quite bad you can cook up a thick rust remover with some citric/phosphoric acid and cornstarch and paint that on. Otherwise rub down / wirebrush the rust. Coat with a decent epoxy primer of the type suggested by Geoff. (I have a massive tin of Jotun Jotamastic 87 as my epoxy primer of...

Re: Project Management
My project spreadsheet has 81 separate tabs including a detailed list of practically all the nuts, bolts, washers and screws on a 99. Think I might have gone a bit too far!

I say build a really wild 3 door 99. Will sit well next to my equally bonkers 4 door 99T16 with wide wheel arches.

Re: Steering rack bushing
I recently got the plastic bushing and brass cup bushings from MALBRAD and the plastic bushing is identical to the Saab one. I believe that MALBRAD is supposed to be getting some more made but I don't know when.

I'd be interested to know where exactly you got the D rubber and circular rubber from.

Re: Steering rack bushing
Dave (Sonett here) had some rebuild kits made. I don't know if he has anymore. Might be worth a message to him. Yep, speak to Sonett. A Saab specialist here in the UK (MALBRAD) had some rack refurb kits made that include: the bushing you need & 2 inner bearing cups (made from phosphor bronze). ...

Re: Final Drives, are they interchangeable?
I'm sure the bearing surfaces on the pinion shaft will be hardened so machining through those might be fun, although once through it might not be so bad. Can work out if you can machine a 4spd pinion from a 5spd if have access to measurements from both. Nutcase, you have a passion for collecting gea...

Re: Final Drives, are they interchangeable?
Wonder if there's enough material to machine a 5 speed pinion shaft down to suit a 4 speed box... I understand early boxes were 3.89 too. There maybe, but I reckon the shaft material is possibly a bit of a pain to machine. Would have to cut a thread into a bearing surface on the 5sp shaft. Also hav...

Re: Final Drives, are they interchangeable?
The 4 and 5 speed pinion shafts and definately not interchangeable... like you noticed, the 5 speed one is much longer... on the 4 spd (chain drive primary) the input shaft is integrated with the drivegear for the intermediate gears, on the 5 speed that gear is a separate piece and slides over the ...

The plan is to have type 8s (if and when I find any), otherwise it is type 7s
