Re: '71 Shell Prep updates
Sweet paint, looks amazing! Zues fasteners are sweet, you can grind down the end of a small crescent wrench to be a good zues wrench, and since most of us keep some amount of rudimentary tools in our cars all the time this would be an easy way to be able to pop off the air dam in a hurry and always ...

Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
my sister has gotten a few saab stripe kits reproduced already, maybe I could talk to her and see what the vinyl guys have in the computer. I know she's done the Turbo and I think the EMS already, but i'm not totally sure.

Re: Triumph Dolomite Sprint/SAAB B engine
Does anyone remember the old chiltons manual describing how to remove the triumph head? It's something like: "Remove the cylinder head bolts and cylinder head. ( Actually, this is not as easy as it sounds. Often times the head and head bolts get fused together as one unit, and the bolts break w...

Re: Last minute problems
the race took place last weekend. my alignment is in poor shape. I'll dial it in before next season.
so anyways.
did we ever decide what brand ball joints are the good 1 piece design? there was some discussion that the good brand had switched suppliers or something?

Re: Last minute problems
Good point on the alternator wiring. Well the car got over 1000 miles on it this last weekend and we didn't really have any problems. The cutting out is annoying, but in snow your not really at high RPM's anyway or there is too much wheel spin. It could be the fluctuating voltage, because the proble...

Last minute problems
Race this weekend Car is pulling RIGHT under acceleration and LEFT under deceleration. I had thought it was the right steering knuckle but after replacing with a used one that felt good, no change. Also headlights are pulsing, which probably means the voltage is pulsing, but in the past whenever i'v...

Re: Welders, what to buy?
I think it would be prudent to watch craigs list during this process of considering a purchase, as you can probably get a used miller or lincoln with metal wire feed components instead of a harbor freigh unit. they may not be garbage but the red and blue machines are amazing. with this economy a lot...

Re: How to get 99 hood open when the release cable is broken.
First time I heard about Kroil: my dad drug me along to an Antique Truck Historical Society get-together. There were about 6 guys over 70, my dad and I. When we were looking at one members collection in his shop, he started telling a story to a couple of the old guys about how he just started taking...

Re: How to get 99 hood open when the release cable is broken.
i don't think one can compare kroil to pb blaster, because kroil costs like 5 times as much.
I think everyone needs both, and only use kroil when your dealing with some seriously stuck shit.

Re: Sweden, Midnight Sun Rally 2009
I hope to one day compete in this event! I'm sure there are saab rally cars for rent if you know the right people. Very cool to see Stig still at it. I've always wanted to see him compete. He showed up in Oregon one year and won in a Subaru or something but I didn't attend, I had to work. Looking ba...

Re: How to get 99 hood open when the release cable is broken.
I agree with luke, I don't see any problems with this car Finding a solid 99 shell is something you easterners should rejoice for, and engines are a dime a dozen so you could just replace the thing for free probably if you needed to. Anyways I don't know if anyone answered the question stated in the...
