sort of reminds me of the intake on my CJ2A jeep,
the flanged rubber piece goes under and then a hose clamp secures.

Re: 1968 V4 Rally Car
On bring-a-trailer someone said something about it being a '72 that the fenders and grills were swapped around on.

I'm still not sure exactly which part the original poster was saying needed to be machined...
I think we need a picture.

Re: Chillcast box with 5 speed conversion and type 8 primari
Layshaft/cluster gear shaft are the same thing? This is why I'm thinking we're talking about different parts perhaps? I'm referring to this shaft (although this is for a late box): https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WlxXzC3_fJU/TkwV2hCPg-I/AAAAAAAABtE/C_Ok9HWFNPo/s640-Ic42/DSCF9268.JPG yep, lay sha...

Re: Rally Car 16V NA Engine Build
Thanks! That's exactly the direction I was thinking. I'll have to hit the local yards to find one (or one similar). I like how you did the bushings, a bit beyond my capabilities, but I can hire it out. Power steering? Which rack? John I don't think those alternators were used in any cars, the norma...

Heres a pretty good view of the alternator - you can also see the crank trigger setup on the undersized pulley.

Re: Rally Car 16V NA Engine Build
How did you relocate the alternator? What alternator are you using? I want to get rid if my big, fat, misaligned Bosch unit and go to something smaller and lighter. Looks great so far!! John Using one of those denso mini alternators, 70 amps and about 1/2 the size and weight of stock. The clocking ...

Re: Rally Car 16V NA Engine Build
Great looking TB setup. Nice airbox plate. Looks like you can get a k&n or ITG to wrap that and place on the end plate. What is the plan to measure engine load for the ECU? Has that header been run before? If so how did it fare up to say a MSS? Yep, I have an ITG filter that fits right on that....

Re: Building a 900 for hillclimbs
I've never done it that way, but fitting the 16V engines into the two 99's was all done with the core supports completely removed, and you're right, it does make access way easier. I think I'll start doing it that way since the coolant has to come out anyway, and then it's just the little 8mm nuts ...

Re: The New Norman
Those intercooler connections are always pesky when racing, another one of those failures that street driving can't predict... I always double hose clamped the problematic ones and also we found that texture powder coating the pipes helped a lot as well.

Nice, I always wanted to do something like that - I like the idea of some sort of pivot to fold it out of the way, especially on a 99 that would be nice.

What runner length did you end up with? What are you using for paint on the block? I used to use Eastwood's Coroless which was an exact match for B engine paint. But they changed that paint and now sell "Rust Encapsulator". The photos on their website of the red Rust Encapsulator look pre...
