Re: Mini?
Yeah, kinda far from Hawaii too. If I was gonna ship a car, I woulda just taken my sweet '86 912 along. It was way to expensive to be worth it. Instead, Josh Menke in Springfield MA got it. Its supposed to be his gf's daily driver but I wonder how long it will take til he has it stripped down, hopp...

Re: Mini?
My friend in central CT is selling his 2006 Checkmate edition, but it's chock full of options and isn't anywhere near $10,000.

Re: Mini?
OK I'm here. Anyway I would say for that price you could get an older S model with a 6 speed. I also follow the "less is better" method, as my 2002 Cooper S doesn't have a single factory option on it. These cars can pretty much be really really awesome, or total pieces of shit depending on...

Mmmm... also helps that Sweden is like 99% white, while the United States is 53%.

Re: Stripping wheel finish
If you just want them to look better then just sand down a bit with 320 or 400 grit, clean, and repaint with your choice of rattle can. The base paint will act as a good base coat. If you strip it down to bare metal you can end up with adhesion issues and it sounds like you're just looking for &quo...

I don't even care much about the gouges, but rather just getting a clean coat of paint on them. They've just been scuffed from before I even bought them. I don't even care about filing or filling the gouges really.

Stripping wheel finish
Hey guys- I just took my winter wheels off and put on my new summer rims, and had a thought. Granted, my winter rims were cheap because obviously they're beater rims, but I thought I might experiment with them. Right now they're white which is how they came, but they're scratched, curbed, and beat u...

Ummm, I'm looking over my shoulder Max and it must be the guy behind me that said that or something. He said that not me. Will the sarcastic person please stand up so I can get this straight up? I guess some of you who have a history can sift out the real from the canard? My bad, I never pay attent...

Re: Legal Driving Lights (MV code)
I'm not sure what the exact laws are here in CT, but I think generally, in probably every state, you'd be safe if they are indeed white or yellow, not blinding, and not above headlight level. Mine are mounted below bumper level, and are certainly blinding to oncoming motorists, but I only use them a...

Max, do you have a clue what an "ethnologist" does? It's knee-jerk PC baloney that keeps many honest folks away from the social sciences; they can't be. I'm not talking about the study, just talking about the last sentence of your post where you claim to be glad to live in the good ol' ra...

I always thought it was great that they offered the later 740i sport with a 6 speed manual. Totally kickass.

Re: Oh no, V12!
How is the reliability on those? Granted yeah it's a V12 7 series, so it can't exactly be a Honda Accord. I always got the feeling for some reason that the 7 series was less than stellar when it came to repair time. Must be sweet for cruising around in though. I always loved BMW interiors.
