Re: MSS complete turbo back or =
2.5" suits my plans fine. Come on Craig, you got TIG skills build your own. Use stainless because the cost is in the labor not the material. BurnsStainless or stainless steel header manufacturing has all you ever wanted in mandrel bends and weld on do dads. I'll even loan you my dual flow regu...

Re: MSS complete turbo back or =
if we could draw up the proper tail pipe shape we could probably have a run of tail pipes bent up on a cnc tubing bender...that would be the hardest piece to get correct. I'd be in for two of these. Everything else is very simple to fabricate yourself. I'd caution anyone thinking of the MSS on a NA...

Re: 2.1L Head with 91mm pistons and Which cams, head gasket?
With a 91mm piston, you should probably go with the 2.1 head gasket. I don't have an old 2.0 head gasket at hand to measure up, but I think 91mm might just clear the bore if the gasket is perfectly centered. I looked at this a while back and concluded that it was too close (or wouldn't clear at all....

Re: Ap racing calipers and disc offset
It's ok for the hat/bell to have the depth you describe, but keep a close eye on the lower ball joint- the stock vented 86/87 rotors don't clear it by much, so I don't think you want to add more depth to the hat. What mount do the AP calipers have? 3.5" lug or radial? If they're on a 3.5" ...

Re: Any interest in pre 88 custom hubs?
Hey Birdie, I didn't see those spacers on the web site, what did you have to pay for them? I had some similar ideas a while back to use the 88> rear axle/brake caliper, but use 99/early 900 hubs and rotors and adapt the fit in the bearings. Thoughts on that one? John John, if you're using the adapt...

Re: Bearing on primary drive cover , c900/99
Drew, those green things are the weeds that grow around here called Doug Fir trees. We have a lot of them. I do plan on tearing the box apart to check it out. I pulled the side covers off and it is pretty clean inside, but the transmission fluid was starting to turn into grease. Lots of dark metal p...

Re: Bearing on primary drive cover , c900/99
Here is a video I made to document the sound the transmission was making if anyone is curious:

I recorded it with my phone, so the quality is just what you'd expect.

Bearing on primary drive cover , c900/99
Even a n/a 8V SAAB can kill its transmission if you wait long enough! Three weeks ago the trans in my '85 900s notchback started to get really loud in reverse. Growly, sort of sounded like gravel in the transmission. Two weeks ago, first gear started to make a very loud clicking. Alarmingly loud. So...

Re: 1992 n/a daily driver
Just as reliable as any other classic 900, which is to say it is not likely to let you down. The gearbox on an NA car should be good to go. The 2.1L cars are prone to some corrosion on the block deck at the water jacket on either the #1 or #4 cylinder, but I can't remember which one. I daily my '85,...

Re: Saab 900 Notchback Rally Car
The pistons are Mahle 92 mm flat top pistons for a vw. I have the number written down somewhere but they are intended for an air cooled VW. The engine has stock rods that have been offset bushed to adjust for the piston difference. The block is bored about .100 over to fit the pistons. There is val...

Looking good Jon & Crazyswede! Thanks for the link to the photos- I saw MANY things that I have questions about... -What are you using for throttle bodies? -What pistons are those? -What head is that? -what is up with those inner drivers? Awesome header- why up instead of down? I am assuming it ...

Re: 9-3 SS 2.0l Downpipe fab
Awesome work Dennis! Nice to see your strongback jig- that thing made all the difference between a part that should fit and a part that WILL fit... I'm confident it'll just slide right in there!
So for clarification, the bulbous thing in the middle of the pipe is an aftermarket mini cat?

Re: Electric Water Pump Options?
I've burned up a few of them... Best advice I can offer is if you choose the Davies-Craig EWP, definietly install the optional controller too. The trick is to get them mounted as low as possible on the intake side so they don't run dry. One day I will be putting a cross flow radiator in, which will ...

Swede, don't the rules preclude you from running in the stock division with the modifications you've made to the car, specifically the T5 swap?
