Re: LeMons "Loudon Annoying" NHMS

I ran out of time to finish making my own diff cover with the in/out ports, so I was picking up from the 5 gear housing side cover. A combination of not enough fluid and not realizing there isn't enough flow through the transmission (I was worried about the diff side to main case, which is fine, bu...

Re: LeMons "Loudon Annoying" NHMS

Bummer, sorry to hear it didn't go well. Jordan, Could you clarify the transmission cooler failure? Was your transmission cooler running the inlet and outlet at the dif cover? I know that is the most common plan. Was there just not enough fluid in the box to make up the volume of the cooler and line...

Re: Help a Fool - Engine Revs Up When Gentle but Dies Under

Does the 99 CIS system use an " accelerator pump " like the 900 does? sounds similar to what my 900 8v did a while back. Once I made sure this thingamajiggy was working and it ran fine. The way I understand it, it fires the cold start injector when it senses the vacuum drops off, (ie open...

Dennis, do you know where SW had the sensor placed?

Re: Hydraulic Handbrake questions

I like Matt's idea of two separate pivot options for set-up, but that got me thinking...If I don't have to worry about achieving a full stroke to bleed, then I am just going to make two different bellcranks that I can swap out easily until I find the right ratio. Besides, even if I did need full str...

Re: Hydraulic Handbrake questions

What about adding some compliance to the system? Then you would not have to exactly match the stroke lengths. There are a number of ways to add a spring to provide enough force o compress the fluid & enough travel for the bleeding of the system. Please expand, I'm not sure I'm following. Are yo...

Re: Rally Front Suspension

I think the double A arm is a more robust design than the McPherson strut. This. I have a lot of experience being talked out of hairbrained ideas by my friends, so please let me return the favor. Double wishbone or A-arm designs are so much better than Mac struts. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk...

Re: Rally Front Suspension

Here is what I have been working on. Should only need to come up with a solution for the bottom ball joint. I will be removing the top control arm all together and cutting/welding in a flat box for the top spring perch. BTW these are 9k knuckles... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8264/8666138071_2552...

Re: Hydraulic Handbrake questions

Hey now, no need to bring up that crappy degree. I took the photo with my tablet as I typed my post, so circumstances were compromised to say the least. I have plans to post a build thread at some point. Delrin washers are definitely planned on the linkage. As it sits now, I get exactly 1.5" of...

Re: Hydraulic Handbrake questions

OK, depending on how you measure the line of action on the handbrake itself, my overall ratio works out to be between 6.3:1 and 6.9:1. Forgive the crappy photo and messy car. I'm doing all the mock-up in a parts car and it is kinda nasty in there. Everything you see is just mocked up and tacked asid...

Hydraulic Handbrake questions

I made my Wilwood conversion over two years ago, and I am only now getting around to making my hydraulic handbrake. I'm making it difficult on myself as I want to make it all fit under the center console and appear stock, which is one of the reasons I've been putting it off. I've worked on it for th...

Re: Motorsport Shifters - Group Buy

Awesome, thanks for the tips Drew- I'll admit I was probably running the lathe too slow, but obviously didn't think of it.

Shifters are looking really nice!

Re: Motorsport Shifters - Group Buy

Update: shfters 004.jpg Luke, How do you get a smooth finish on UHMW with an indexable cutter like that? I'm no expert on a lathe, but I always have to use cutting tools that are a little more rounded to get a smooth finish on platics. Is it just a matter of feed rates? I'm curious how you make it ...

I don't feel as bad about that convertible as this guy probably feels about his ride... http://www.boldride.com/blog/2013/04/lamborghini-miura-sv-burns-to-the-ground/27396/ Yes folks that is,... er... was a $750,000 Miura SV. Yeah, I saw that over on GRM. Makes me sick to my stomach- I've always fe...
