Re: Rally Car 16V NA Engine Build
Slowly looking more like an engine, ready for a test fit as soon as I get the rally car moved into the bay. The brakes are locked up from sitting (sad) . IMG_3689.jpg I went with a slightly different throttle body than planned, these are a bit more compact, come out of the box to fit a bosch TPS and...

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
The problems with projects like this is you learn so much and your techniques improves so much throughout the process that by the end all you can think about is how much better you could do it if you started over, and yet the idea of ever doing all that work again makes you want to throw up.

Re: Early vs later 99 radiators
there are a couple of different 99 radiators with the turbo radiators being multicored and thicker. All the turbo radiators I've seen are the same thickness as the later 99 radiators but have a much finer fin count. The early 99's (up to '75 I believe) had the thick tanks that match the 96 tanks. S...

Re: Metal Working Tools
Oh, also a Roper Whitney No. 5 Hand Punch, I have two of them, both found at yard sales. One is really old and appears to be forged, and its a workhorse, can put a pipe on the handle on that one and punch way thicker metal that its rated for, the newer one appears to be cast and works fine as well b...

Re: Metal Working Tools
the Diacro brakes, shears etc, are the gold standard in small sized but industrial quality. They are priced accordingly though, a nice used shear will be about $800-$1000. The older pexto stuff is also very nicely made. They were most common in industrial arts programs where the equipment had to be ...

Re: Saab 99 radiator
Hi Scott, for my 99 rally car i used a 900s or 9/3 radiator and cut the plastic tanks off, removed the bottom plate and cut three rows of core off the bottom. made my own tanks from alloy extrusions purchased from my local alloy supplier. The outlets can be made up from old slave cylinder internals...

Re: Billet Aluminum Coolant Reservoir Inlet/Outlet
If you're making it yourself, thicker will be easy to make it leak-proof. It's actually kind of tricky to get the weld clean enough to seal liquid on thin aluminum. I would definitely not go thinner than .062". Even if it's .125" it won't weigh very much. My go-to for tanks is 5052 or 300...

Re: Billet Aluminum Coolant Reservoir Inlet/Outlet
What psi is the c900 cap? something like 14 psi sound right? I need the inlet/outlet ports as well for the radiator and waterpump hoses. Like you said, I just use aluminum pipe (actual pipe not tube) which is turned on the lathe just to give a little shoulder. http://www.go9sport.com/image/cache/da...

Re: Diff Covers - Available soon!
Hey Luke figured I'd ask here instead of starting another thread...any idea how long the supply of panhard bars will last? I was planning on ordering one now that they're back in stock but wouldn't mind letting the credit card cool off another week or two after a vacation but don't want to miss out...

Going fast, have about 4 more from the batch of 15 that aren't spoken for. Good deal. I had no intention of trying cut into your biz. Scanwest approached me and I just happen to post in the random thought sub forum a day or two before you. Weird? Anyway glad to see you selling these. That means som...

Diff Covers - Available soon!
Hey Guys, I've been out of stock for a bit, but there was been some renewed interest expressed in the diff covers, so I am in production of another run. Should be able to get the first units out in a week or two. All proceeds go to costs related to this site and fixing up my old rally car! Spread th...

Re: Rally Car 16V NA Engine Build
A few other tidbits to update this thread: These are the cams, a friend brought them over from Sweden, they are the most aggressive profile they recommend with the hydraulic lifters, which I want to retain for simplicity's sake. http://www.saabrally.com/images/New_16VNA/IMG_3453.JPG and the intake m...
