Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Hmmmm, good question. Per eeuroparts site, it looks like below.

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

So i drove the 9-3 without issue until last week, when as i expected it let me down. This time it had the burning plastic smell under the hood that seems to be a clue to the DIC being bad. One EEuroparts DIC and spark plugs (with dielectric grease) and it started up and ran around the block without ...

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

I'm kind of embarrassed about the pressure plate. I thought i'd seen everything too...

The 9-3 keeps on trucking. Its just a matter of time before it strands me, but for now i've stopped worrying about it. I'll update when it dies.

Re: Winter Tires

I bought some used General Altimax arctics a few years ago, and they ran quite well in our not too snowy climate. In the snow the car felt unstoppable, but they were very mushy though. Last year Tirerack had a sale on some pirellis, or maybe pirelli did, but their snow tires have been pretty awesome...

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Wow, i had no idea on the DI Cassette, but this is the first car i've had one on. Makes you wonder what shipping does to them... Soooooooo, i had my son push the convertible clutch for me while i moved the flywheel, and it appears that a certain someone didn't fully tighten the pressure plate bolts....

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Flipping car ran fine for the mechanic, even after a couple of days. I got it and its running fine, but now i don't trust it. UGH. I'll continue to monitor. I did swap out the DIC, maybe i'll pretend that fixed it. I wonder if i should just do the CPS, as car has 160k and i've never done it. I'll bi...

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

If i can't figure this out, i'm definitely running it into a tree... I'll take a look at the various items, especially the pry the flywheel item. I took the cover off when i did the slave and frankly wasn't about to wrestle it back on. On the 9-3, of course it gets towed to the mechanic and starts u...

Re: Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Thanks all for the thoughts. I swapped out the DI Cassette and had the exact same symptoms. I'm subbing this one out, i just don't have the time. Off to Viking automotive... :) On the convertible, the clutch feels pretty good, a little bit of slop at the top. It didn't occur to me to look at the piv...

Multiple Saab woes, its been awhile

Hi all, The Saabs got together and decided to break down together, and i'm hoping some of you all can point me in the right direction. 1999 9-3. It ran fine, then threw a check engine light. Still ran fine, and i thought it was related to the Tighten gas cap i get periodically. I was going to clear ...

Snow tires

Hi all, Glad we are back. Q for you, snow tires... Friend has a nissan versa, and tire rack recommends 185-65-15 snow tires, while for my 99 9-3 they recommend 195-60-15. I personally think the 195 would work fine, but tire rack chat disagrees. What does the collective here think? Are 60 series snow...

Red box APC

Hi all,

With everyone changing over to T5, does anyone have a red box APC they would be willing to let go?

I've wanted to try one, but never have being the cheap Saab skate that i am.

Thanks!
