Re: Quality of replacement parts - survey.

The newer axles are a pain to rebuild because there is a retainer ring thing which secures the tripod inside the receiver. These have to be cut off very carefully with a grinder. without that cup the axles tend to be noisy and this is just way too much work just to replace the boot. On 9-5 and 9-3 t...

Re: Quality of replacement parts - survey.

Just wanted to provide an update here. I bought 2 cardone axles as a pair from some ebay seller about a year ago. I only needed one at the time so i shelved the other as a spare. I notived the rubber cracking when i replaced the trans and swapped in the one i had on the shelf. Two words: catastrophi...

Re: Fire Sale 89 SPG

Its in luke's hands now and i am glad it is going to someone who can competently repair it. we could see that the damage was substantial when putting it on the trailer. He might be in for more work than he bargained for as there was quite a bit of damage to the rear a arm mount as well as the front ...

Fire Sale 89 SPG

My SPG just had its control arm pull through the frame. It is currently parked on the street outside my mechanic in queens but I am going to need to get rid of it this week. If anyone has been looking for all of the hard to find SPG parts, please come and take this car. No reasonable offer refused. ...

Re: Help! A Arm separated from body while driving

thanks for the reply. basically #16 pulled through the sheet metal leaving a hole of its exact shape. There is likely damage to the rear as well because the wheel got pushed back.

Meant to say right side a arm, its the battery side as always.

Help! A Arm separated from body while driving

The front mount of the left a arm in my 89 sheared right off the body. This was very scary basically equivalent to a ball joint separating. What do i do next? Is it curtains for this car?

Re: Quality of replacement parts - survey.

I realize the ones i called eeuro house brand were actually Suretrack. These are definitely good quality as I said previously. I would not hesitate to buy more at that price point. My cardone axles were from ebay and I believe they were made a few years ago so what Jordan says regarding poor quality...

Re: Quality of replacement parts - survey.

I just bought the house brand eeuroparts axles for my C900 which i installed a few weeks ago. They appeared to be pretty high quality. The fit and finish was nicer than the reman cardone axles on my 9-5. The cardones I'm comparing are the the 99-01 axles which are smaller in diameter than the 02+ wh...

Re: Slave cylinder travel distance

Dave does awesome work, I would not worry about it one bit. It is really the 6 puck disc which made the installation hard. If i needed another one done i would go back to him 100%. Luke also has had good experience with him.

Re: Slave cylinder travel distance

What about just grinding off everything but the platform on the one you popped and using it to shim its replacement? Seems like this would be free and would also maintain hydraulic ratios between the two cylinders. I mean, it seems obvious to me that more stroke in the slave would require more in th...

Re: Slave cylinder travel distance

Try an F55 slave from a 9-5 or 9-3. They are almost identical to the 900 with a tripod hole setup, and would be worth a try if you have one sitting on the shelf. The F55 got a new slave cylinder in the last years (2008+) which improved clutch feel, making it feel more like modern clutches but with t...

Re: I've gone electric

So what is the driving experience like with the leaf? I have been in hybrids such as the prius but i thought they felt very similar to their non-hybrid counterparts. Is there any difference with pure electric?
