Yes Geoff, the clock started at midnight and the car set off after the "build process" at about twenty past twelve and still set the early records for standing half mile/ mile etc. I have a photo of the car somewhere and will attempt to locate and post.

These were brought out to commemorate SAAB breaking all the Australian endurance records up to 24 hours. This was done at the now defunct Surfers Paradise race circurt. You are on the right track cleaning the terminals. Also make sure you use a good quality ceramic fuse not the more common plastic ones which have a habit of melting.

The pump fuse should be 16 amps.

Try replacing the warm-up regulator as this will give pump pressure when cold and make the mixture very lean. Also remove the distributor head and clean the piston this is not a big deal the the seal is only an "O"ring and should not be an issue refitting.(have done hundreds)

If the balance chain broke the engine would have a vibration which you could describe as as a harshness. I have seen a big end rattle and go away at revs with no load due to the oil pressure increase. If the pick up is blocked the pumps usually whine due to cavitation. this is a common problem. You ...

Serious question
If you were able to buy a x- factory 99 16v engine (yes the belt drive type) and a straight cut gearbox, how much do you think it would be worth or would you be prepaired to pay for such an item? The items are almost new with no competition use.
