Re: Project Turbo Killer

To conclude, the smaller primary pipes have made a difference, but the difference was improved further by using the 90mm trumpets. Here is a final graph with the new exhaust manifold comparing the 40mm and 90mm trumpets. I have since learned about two manifolds available from Sweden, similar in desi...

Re: Project Turbo Killer

OK, so much for the short trumpets, Andrew was in no rush to go home and he seemed as interested as me to see what the 90mm trumpets would produce, 5 minutes later the longer trumpets fitted and we're ready for another run. Comparing this run with a previous run, with the old manifold and 90mm trump...

Re: Project Turbo Killer

After discussions with Dave Baker (http://www.pumaracing.co.uk) he advised i should fit smaller primaries, he knows a lot more about this than me, so it would have been foolish to ignore his advice, according to Dave 44mm primaries would come into play at around 220bhp. I swapped the 44mm primaries ...

Re: Steering Rack

I had some repair kits made some time ago, copy of the original Saab kit, but made from better material, the plastic cups in the Saab kit are not very good and you will probably end up with play in the gear quite soon, depending on use. The kits are for later type rack, '74-. http://i147.photobucket...

Re: Shock Talk

Yeah, we don't really have a historic rally class in the US.. (that I know of anyway). Not that I would be rallying anyway. Just more of a light duty racer. Track days, Autocross, rallycross, hillclimbs.. I was under the impression this was to be a 'serious' competition car, but if it's more for fu...

Re: Shock Talk

Thanks for the replies. If I was going to spend $900 on shocks I'd go with coilovers and still be able to pay $500 for someone to install them! Also it says those AVOs are only 1/2" bushed and 99s are 5/8" pins. I don't know about the US, but if you are entering a car into historic rallie...

Re: Shock Talk

I've read that the majority of adjustable shocks basically all except for a couple of high end ones are pretty much a marketing tool and don't work all that well. In terms of consistency and reliability, I'd rather go with a simple shock without knobs. I'd rather have a two sets of valved and dyno'...

Re: Shock Talk

If it's going to be used for competition or track just get some 3 way adjustable shocks made and have done with it.

Re: Tranny Reinforcement Q’s

Ok, so what percentage of tranny failures are from blowing out the pass side of the trans due to diff deflection? I see pictures of folks welding on stiffening plates, filling in w/ added material, the steel diff covers etc. Does any of this stuff work? I just got access to a bunch of heavy aluminu...

Re: Guess what showed up in our shop.....

I saw somewhere on the Internets (might have been here) that the castings were built by Axelson in Sweden. I have made a couple of references to it http://www.saabrally.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1372&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=axelsson&start=15 http://www.saabrally.com/forums...
