Notchback odds & ends

See bigger thread here on Saablink. I'm not aiming to make a bunch of money, but if anyone is looking for any of this stuff I'd rather it go to use than sit in our storage area. I have the only early 99, and the only notch in the area, and realistically this will all just sit. Have good window glass...

Re: Guess what showed up in our shop.....

If I had the machine shop I had in Chicago out here, I'd probably be trying to do the same thing! The hardest part will be profiling the valve pockets and port transitions, but it's definitely not impossible. It'll just take some modelling skill, lots of long ball end cutters, and a nice ridgid angl...

Re: Guess what showed up in our shop.....

He's just got the three pieces of the head itself, no cams, lifters, valves, manifolds, zilch. I'll talk to him and get the story all correct, it's pretty funny how he acquired it, but I'll have him send you a message Luke. He has had 99's for quite some time, his parents started with them in the Ne...

Re: Guess what showed up in our shop.....

Well i know for a fact that there is another complete non machined 16v 99 head in the USA but I am not telling where it is. :eyebrows: 8) Good to know! I can only go off what he tells me! I can pass on the message if there are other blanks that could be cut to be useable, doing more than one at onc...

Guess what showed up in our shop.....

A customer told me that he had this sitting around, and brought it in to show Walter and I. This is allegedly the only un-machined S&R 16v prototype head casting left, he spoke with some people at the factory who said they could still make up a set of cams and do all the finish machining, but he...

Re: Last minute problems

pulling to the right under throttle and back to the left when letting off is a sure sign of 1 or more bad ball joints. Maybe it could also uneven castor setting between left and right? Probably not something you can get fixed today, I'm sure you'll be packing the whole time to be ready to leave tom...

Re: Dec 6 - Dyno Day in West Los Angeles!

I have received some really good response so far, but we need more cars! If you are thinking of attending, please get in touch with me and let me know, I'd like at least 5 more cars to bring to total to 14 or so, any more than that and it'll just be cheaper for everyone! I have also heard from a few...

Re: Lighten My Flywheel

RS68, He took it from ~22lbs down to ~15.5 lbs, including a reasonable portion from the outer edge alongside the ring gear, where the timing marks usually live. He stamped a new TDC-0 mark into it, but took a nice radius out of the outer edge down to where the dowels sit. I think I paid him around $...

Re: Lighten My Flywheel

Sam, If you're still looking for flywheel, call Dave Kennedy. He's in Central California, and was the machinist and fabricator for Group9 some years back, before the company became trash. He did the lightening on the steel flywheel in my C900, and re-doweled it for a 9000 Aero clutch. His number is ...

Tube Benders & Tube Notchers

Which ones to people like, and not like? I'm shopping for a little portable one for the shop to do cages for the LeMons and Chump cars, and to start offering the service here at the shop. I have used a hydraulic Hossfeld #2 (or Hy-Bend hydraulic, Hy-Bend uses Hossfeld die sets, and comes on a really...
