Impressive result compared to the other cars it ran against. Just goes to show its more often the driver/rider than the vehicle.

that may be the car that Vanlandingham had listed for sale for a while. They were asking $10,000 for it for a while. It had some good parts but looked more like a $6500 car to me....maybe less given that the seat probably are not legal with Hans device, the floor looks rusty on the inside, and the cage looks lacking.

Edit:

can't tell if its the same or not...new price $7500.

This is not the same car.

Garth built this one, and for the first few years it didn't have any of the rally reinforcements and he was at about 70 hp. not sure if he has a different engine yet or not, JVL was supposedly building him one.

He's a very good driver, and stays out of trouble.

He usually does DooWop, Oregon Trail, and Mt. Hood Rally every year.

He also has a road racing 96 that I've heard little about lately.

I couldn't compete at this event because I ran out of time, and the car was still in pieces. It's the most fun event I've ever been a part of. Truly awesome rally.

He must have a big garage, cuz he also has a 95 that was supposed to be at the Thunderbird TSD up in BC in Feb with Russ. I don't know Garth, but Russ is one of the top TSD navigators in the PNW. I don't think he owns any Saabs but he apparently gravitates toward drivers/owners of them (and perhaps, especially, red ones), having spent considerable time rallying with Satch Carlson in his Little Red Sonett. (Um, Prince music is suddenly playing in my brain...)

he owns a tire shop and keeps cars inside/outside the building.

When I bought my spring green 99 from him a few years back, he had the rally car, a rally car he was building for some one else, a 95, and the road racing 96 (under construction). Haven't been there since.

it's A N T tire in portland if anyone is curious

I don't know Russ. At least I don't think I do.
