Covered Bridge Rally-X

Postby Jordan » Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:07 am

I'm down for the covered bridge rallyx, barring any unforeseen issues, I can't see why I couldn't bring the race car. I'm working on registration/insurance now.

I just completed my first rally-x this past weekend, but never done a road rally. Is that like an auto-x? Helmet and street clothes, or is more gear required? I'm guessing I would have to secure a navigator?
The biggest cost looks like the fuel and tolls to do this. It just might be feasable.

I should be able to come to VT that weekend to hang out at the rally-X etc. Maybe we can have our own backroads tour on saturday or something. TSD's are kind of lame unless they are held really late at night on roads with adverse conditions and with a fast CAST. Pine Barrens Express and VT winter as supposed to be the best ones left.
Hopefully by that point I'll have the 79 GLi running again, that would be a good maiden voyage for it. I have to get it done by October 31st anyway as thats when my lease is up at the shop.

You need to come up and run the Vermont Winter event. Geoff and I have done it every year since they started it and we have done well every year. It starts at 8pm and goes until 6 am and it is a very "brisk" event.

Word from Scott Beliveau is that the CB Rally-X will be in Stratton, VT at the resort along with the Road Rally. That's about 15-20 mins from me here in SW VT. Somebody should change the name on this tread to "Bring out yer SAAB.... 2010 CB Rally-x, your car is just lighter than mine, thats why you beat me.... Festival".

That being said, I may be able to procure a 10-person condo (for the cost of cleaning it after you stink-wads) on the Mountain as well.

I made it official. Lets try to get as many people together we can, SAABs or not. I'm down for the RallyX not so much for the TSD. I'll ask my brother if we can crash at his Stratton condo which would be convenient since it sleeps like 8 or 10 people.

Does that mean Mongol-Rover can still come? Seth: Any of those mosters rally-x-able.... or, do you get to try to beat Geoff in his own car?

I'm hoping to get the old iceracer to dig me up one last trophy.

Mailing registrations for the Rally-X today. Mine, Tim's and Chris' all in one envelope because I need to decrease my carbon footprint a little before I go drive around in circles for no reason all day.

Tim will probably co-drive my car in Modified 2wd (M2). Chris will likely be willing to share a turn in his monster SPG, he's in 2 wheel prepared (2P).

Lets get a little list going

Driver --- Car

Tim: 900 Omologato
Chris: 900 Ice-PG
Josh: 900 Omologato
Jordan: 99 Salt Flat Special
Geoff: 99 Folkracer
Seth: British Rollerskates
Max: Some kinda girls car
Luke: SAAB 900 Paddy Wagon
Swedesport: SAAB 900 2 tone Lounge Lizzard
Migwell Blanco Swedish Avenger
Groo Grooberson ACME Agent Orange 2.0

Who else.... Paul, Delorean? East Coast y'all!

I didnt plan to preregister, can I just register at the event? I would expect a cap on how many entries they take, but doubt they will max out.

What is the actual date of the event?

Should we all try to make a tour day out of the trip up there, and try to gather everyone up along the way and caravan together? It would be quite fun to terrorize the local highways and byways as we commute.

Its $25 extra bucks if you don't preregister since you're an SCCA member, you dont get a member price if you pay at the door.
