No more outback. I got turbo in my life again

Postby matt » Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:54 pm

I had been looking at a private sale 05 outback turbo in Vermont. Seth was nice enough to go and test drive it for me. A bunch of craigslist flakes were all big talkers, but no shows to buy my old car, so I had to go the trade in route. Lucky for me there was someting with a turbo and a five speed (almost unheard of) I hadn't seen anything on local lots with both (except a newer STi for a lot more money)

Oh yeah. 06 wrx wagon in wrc blue. 93k miles, highway from driving back and forth to Albany.

You can sort of see on the hood where they had put some white WRX decal on the hood, under the god damn clear coat.
I pulled all my lighting off the outback so eventually I may be adding something to light the night. I already have a set of 17" wheels with almost new snow tires in my sights.

Now I save pennies for TBE and ECU.

I got one of these a little while back as an "auxiliary car" an 11 STI. Blasphemy I know. Drives rather well though, nice take-off & passing power.

Had Saab done a better job on the new 9-5 (faster and cheaper) I would have bought that, but the STI was 14K cheaper than the new 9-5 and had more power. I was in the market so I bought that...

Matt, I've seen that car being really beat on at some NER RallyXes. You'd better take a good look at the underside!

Good choice. The more I thought about that outback afterwards the more I thought it was a bad idea. That pinion bearing noise was unsettlin.....and the kid said it wasn't that bad and he just turned up the radio and didn't notice.

don't worry, there is no undercoat anyway under there, just exposed primer and rust.
