SAAB MAAB 2011?

Postby Jordan » Tue Aug 30, 2011 8:54 am

Any place we want to get together this fall? Covered Bridge RallyX is @ Pico Mt this year, but I'd be down for anything since JT isn't around to house us all and my brothers condo is up for sale. I'll try to find some more centrally located events.

I suggest BRS. :-)

Kelly wants to do more rallyX this fall so we'll be at NER events.
Hopefully Pico survived Irene better than it's sister resort (Killington):

The roads for the Covered Bridge Rally should be interesting:

Holy crap. My mom watched the Ottauquechee rise up about two feet in 20 minutes, basically threatening to take out the Taftsville Bridge, then relent before succeeding, but not before damaging it.

It's, sadly, an awesome time to be a civil engineer in Vermont.

Check youtube for videos of the same river washing out around the Quechee bridge. And then there's the video of the Bartonsville bridge going into the river...

Anyway, who want's to race cars?

I think it would be fun to all meet up as a group again this fall like the assault on Stratton last year.
An upstate NY event would probably be the most central location, but not aware of any events other than full on stage rally or rally sprints going on.

PSCC will prob have some fall events but the calender does not appear to be complete at this time. Red Hook NY is a better location than VT for many and their courses are usually also known to be a little faster than NER's (2nd and 3rd gear vs. 1st and 2nd).

There is also the last Saratoga speedway AutoX October 4th. It was pretty fast driving, but it was kind of a slow event. It was the first one they put on though, so perhaps they changed the format to liven it up. I think I drove Snakes' car...yeah, pretty sure.

The Poughkeepsie event looks like a good location . Looks like they ran a RallyCross mid- October last year.

Snakes: You should fly out (to ahem...visit family or something...), I'll hold a seat in Ol' Blue Balls for ya!

I dunno if its gonna happen for me this year. The truck is in pieces, the 86 900 has a trans that is in its death throws, and Im too broke to pay attention.

I have yet to run a hillclimb this season, and as it stands Ill probably just see if I can do in the trans at a local autocross. Think I just need to regroup and get the car and truck in order, and hope I can get out more next season.

If you guys still do a 2011 MAAB event, I'm sure I can throw together a small run of shirts if someone is willing to handle distribution and collection.

Geoff, Ill see you at BRS. :yay: Anyone else going?

Also, maybe some of us could try and go to the RallyX at stafford springs CT in January? Its a two day event with a longer than usual course.

Those Fiestas seem to like to end up shiny side down a lot..
