CT Auto-x June 24th

Postby Jordan » Wed Jun 13, 2007 9:50 am

I'm going to plan on going to this auto-x since it is only 5 minutes from my house (Bristol, CT) ... it's a Sunday.

Contingent that I get some time to put in my EWP and maybe I'll attempt the cam installation. Help is encouraged. 8)

I'm thinking about going. If i had tires to put on my 15's, i'd definetly go.

Arrg... the slide hammer I ordered from HF is on back order and probably won't arrive anytime soon... Any other method to removing the old water pump with normal tools?

If you run street tires, are in the market, and have the bucks, the Falken Azenis has apparently been eclipsed by the Bridgestone RE-01R and is now available for 15-inch rims.

Ha! Nope. :D

For that reason, the Azenis will continue to sell fairly well, I imagine. But for those who want the edge, looks like the Bridgestone is the way to go.

Apparently, their 195/50-15 was measured with a fictitious ruler: it's *way* wider than 195. Hell, the Azenis 205 is more like a 225...

I know Chris Morand popped one out at Jon Dennis' house (to use for parts for Mike's old 99 rally car) with some screw drivers and/or a prybar. it only took a few minutes.

yeah i think I'll have to try that.... there isn't much clearance between the impeller and the housing but I can probably fit something in there...

does yours have a nut or a bolt on top? Either way you could loosen it a little and use the gap to put the pry bars under. Just remember, left hand thread! :D

It has the nut on top.. and its already loose/off. I'm not sure which gap you mean?

put the bolt back in but don't tighten it. You'll have a gap between the impeller or shaft and the head of the bolt. Thats the gap I'm talking about. Just adjust the height of the bolt to get the pry bars in right and see if you can leverage it out.

Back in Bristol today and the weather cleared up, I started work on the 99 again.

Pry bar method worked like a charm!
