Bogus Basin Hillclimb 2014

Postby 99Super » Mon Sep 01, 2014 6:37 pm

The hillclimb was this past weekend and I finished w/ a second in class, beating the Acura by .045 sec.

We got 8 runs total. I was in the morning run group Saturday and afternoon Sunday. Weather was cool and that contributed to a few "offs", but nothing major this year. I had a spin of my own going into turn two on my fourth run Saturday, but I stayed on the asphalt.

Sweet Hill!

Maybe one of these days we can all meet up at one hill.

It was a great weekend! I didn't break 2:00.00, but I'm close enough that w/ tires and a few aero mods, I can get it next year.
King of the Hill was KP in his Honda-powered Elise (1:48.xxx iirc), but he bent it pretty good Sunday morning in the cold. The Exige was back after his incident at Freezeout. I beat the 911 GT3, and several of the Evo's/WRX's, but the fastest of them were in the low 1:50's. Scott, the class winner in his twincharged CRX had a 1:51.7??.

Where could we all meet in a more-or-less central location for a SAAB competition car event? The eEuroparts All-SAAB Invitational?

Next spring we are looking into renting Thompson Speedway. Not quite centrally located. But if it goes well maybe we could move to tracks around the country. Swap meet+ show + track day. All swedes and Germans ( makes) included. Might be multi day event.

It's like a 90 mile tarmac stage.

I have a friend that has a farm in Ely Nevada. She has offered her farm as a base of operations, and camping outpost if I ever were to come out and do the event.

Silver State actually has a "Team Challenge" for clubs or groups that enter 7-10 cars.

I think I'd need a bigger fuel cell.
