IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE MUSEUM PHOTOS YOU CAN JUST SEE A BLACK 5 DOOR 900 TURBO......?
IT WAS QUITE SCRUFFY LOOKING,BUT HAD SPORT&RALLY WHEEL ARCHES FITTED,WITH '79 STEEL WHEELS......
IT JUST CAUGHT MY EYE.....? TURN'S OUT TO BE A TEST VEHICLE WITH THE 9000 DRIVETRAIN UNDER THE BONNET.....
PARTS OF THE THE ENGINE BAY FLOOR WERE CUT AWAY,AND SECTIONS OF A 9000 SUBFRAME HAD BEEN WELDED IN,TO MAKE IT ALL FIT......OF COURSE,THE ARCHES WERE NEEDED FOR THE WIDER TRACK....
EITHER THE BONNET HAD BEEN SHORTENED,OR THE FRONT LENGTHENED,AS SMALL FILLET PLATES HAD BEEN WELDED IN FROM THE FRONT WINGS TO THE WINDSCREEN SCUTTLE,IN THE SAME CURVATURE AS THE BONNET....PRESUMABLY TO AID STIFFNESS?
I WAS FIRST ABLE TO MAKE THE TRIP IN 2007 TO TROLLHATTAN,AND HAVE BEEN BACK TO SWEDEN AT LEAST 9 OR 10 TIMES,NOT JUST 'SAAB' RELATED.....
OF COURSE,I MAY FIND THE CLIMATE INTOLERABLE,OR THE WAY OF LIFE TOO FAST PACED.........MAYBE EVEN? MY EXPERIENCE OF MY 'PERCIEVED' SIMPLICITY OF LIFE, TOO MUCH TO TAKE IN....?
