Bogus Basin 2015

Bogus was a bust this year.
I should have taken it as a clue when on Monday, I swung by the local Pick-a-Part on my way home from work to try to find a smaller alternator for Frank. Before I found the part I was looking for, I instead found a poor gentleman who had succumbed to the rigors of removing a seat belt clip from a car.
It appears he stopped to take a rest and died from a heart attack. Bummer.
I did, eventually go back and find the alternator I wanted, but no longer had time to shim/bush it, so I went back to the Bosch…
Friday evening was tech/late registration and the weather was cool and breezy, but not bad. Saturday morning was foggy and breezy, but we gridded and decided to wait out the fog. Then came the snow…

(on the plus side, the weather really helped knock down the forest fires...)
So, all runs Saturday were cancelled. I left the car on the mountain and hitched a ride home.
Sunday morning was sunny and I took the van back up, just planning to tow Frank back.
I was in the morning run group and with the cold air, I had plenty of power, but no traction.
First run was a 2:05.7, Second run 2:04.1. So, times were coming down and the elusive sub-2:00 was in sight with three runs left…
Middle of the third run the turbo seizes. :bawl:
As I drove the van and brought my tow bar, it was an easy tow home...
Now, I’ve been racing on this turbo for close to 20 years, so it was due. The turbo was from a junkyard 87 9000, so a good excuse to upgrade the turbo and exhaust!

That tops all of my junk yard runs.
To bad about the weather. Winter is coming...
I have a very nice DP that might fit into your turbo upgrade plans?

Oh man! I've found some depressing stuff in junkyards before but that's in another league.
Sounds like a crappy week. Time to get a new turbo and have a fresh start!
