Deb has decided that this should be on our "Bucket List".

Rather than the SSCC, we plan on driving the spring version, the Nevada Open Road Challenge, next year (2018).

That should give us plenty of time to prepare : )

Most likely, we will use the 9000 "Aero", but the 85 SPG or Frank are both options.

As discussed previously, there is a Team Challenge, should anyone else want to join in the fun!

Is Deb going to navigate?

Yes, with the thought that she may drive it in 2019.

Years ago we would drive on 319 before it was a well-known shortcut like it is now, and still 55 mph.
85-90mph in the middle of the night. She knows the road as well as I do.

We watched "The Gumball Rally" again the other day and that's when she announced we were going to drive this next year!

(Is it just me, or does 90 mph not seem so fast anymore?)

It depends on what you're driving and where you're driving.

What are the decision factors for you in choosing a car to use? Top speed? Stability? Pucker-factor? Car prep?

Kelly was just asking me the other day about high speeds. I told her that 117 in a relatively prepped street SPG was mighty exciting because you really feel the speed. But 120 in a mostly stock 9000 Aero felt smooth and fully capable of more.

I spend hours in my work F-350 doing 80 on the Interstate, 65-70 on rural 2-lanes.

For the SSC/NORC, comfortable high speed is called for, so more than likely it will be the Aero.
We've already run it at 135 on that stretch and 80 through "The Narrows". It's an incredibly comfortable car
to run at high speed.

If/when Deb drives, I think similar factors would be addressed, but if she runs in the 90mph touring class, the SPG might be fun too. Frank would be fun, but really annoying to run flat out for an hour.

Too bad SAAB didn't re-run "The Long Run" with CSE Aeros, they could have beat their own records!
