Getting Together

Postby Luke » Wed Jan 09, 2008 1:27 pm

So, with a couple peoples car coming together quickly and the season starting soon, I think we should try to all make an effort to have a good group showing at at least one event this. Last year I was was pushing for black river stages, which might be a possibility again, or West Virginia would be really cool too. I see as a potential (at least later this year)having Me, Mike, Per, Matt, Geoff, Groo, James? having cars on the east coast. There might even be a chance I would consider renting one of my cars to one of the above if a suitable arrangement could be made... So, its always good to set goals to give people something to shoot for. How cool would that be if we could all be on a start list together!
Anybody have any thoughts?

I don't think I'll have a new car together for 2008. I need to see what can be done to the existing car to see if can be made legal without having to cut out the old cage and replace it with a new one (which I don't want to do). But that won't be until I get some other projects out of the way. I'd like to get back on the stages and would enjoy a rental.

Well, at the risk of setting yet another rally-goal that will be tromped on, I hope to have something to run an event in by June. so, that's Baie, STPR, or it slides to July and NEFR.

Maybe STPR might be a good event for us to shoot for then.
Its certainly easy for me, but the Rally America BS makes me angry.

There was also a rumor that there will be no more night stages and they are going to have some sort of rally car circus-act at a fairgrounds on friday that I really don't want to be part of it that happens.

Jeez, no water crossing? They should just make all the rally drivers run around in a pile of dirt and soot water guns at eachother. Maybe that would be safer.

It wasnt a safety thing, it was an environmental thing. Honestly I don't care about the creek crossing that much. I think its fun for spectators but thats about it.

Geophffe.......ffph, I'll help you with your car if you give me one of your famous foot rubs. Tim C. has got a nice tube bender over here. I could put you in touch with him. I heard he will be doing some work for Charlie North soon as well.

Tim is on my list of people to do "local" cage work. The stuff he did on your 2dr looks pretty nice. First I have to get some work done on the house, then get going on the 99T and the Chamotte '80 GLi and figure out about the existing rally car (which has a welded in bolt-in cage...)

My dad is retired....though he still does do some construction work. I hate doing construction work....always have. I have always been nervous around construction tools....probably from being surrounded by it growing up.

im "fairly sure" that my bare bones rally effort will only be NASA legal, so unless I'm wrong, count me out for the Rally America events.

Rally WV might not be a bad rally for a good showing of Saabs.....just as long as no one falls off a cliff.
