SAABs @ Carlisle

Postby Jordan » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:02 pm

Last year we made sort of a team showing... This year I think we should make it. I'd like to bring my own car , to up the 99 count from like 4 ( ), but that may be optimistic.
We can also enter as a team and save some money on mulitple car registrations....

Who else is in?

SAABs @ Carlisle is a SAAB enthusiast event, held in conjuction with the Carlisle Import/Kit Replicar Nationals. It is a "car-show within a much bigger car show". Attendees have complete access to all of the events and activities happening all week-end long, including access to the vendor and parts swap-meet areas. In 2007, we drew in 211 SAABs and the event set a new attendance record with over 1,500 cars.

Pre-registration will close at 5:00PM Friday April 25th, 2008. Late entrants will need to contact us for instructions after this deadline. Registration at the gate is more expensive, so get your registration in early and save some money!

Yeah the vintage turnout last year was depressing, especially the 99's. It would be great to have a good saabrally.com showing so we can defend ourselves against the subwoofer toating slammed with chromies 9000 crowd.
I plan on going. My goal is to have the new rally car done and have it there.

When is it? I could probably bring the 5 door down.....but I think we have to have a saabrally weekend to swap in the 5 speed and put on the rally exhaust....or start working on the 16v turbo conversion/firewall change.

Why don't we setup at carlise and do the swap right there on the field during the course of the weekend. That would be a fun exhibit and would be pretty easy.

that might be cool but I would bet they'd need to approve beforehand. I'm sure there are liability issues that would come into play. Though it might be something that could really get us some press.

haha a 5spd swap would be great, who knows they might even allow it! I'd be down for helping out for sure.

oh and nobody else is allowed to bring a 99 this year, or my 3rd place plaque is in jeopardy!!! :aieee:

I am planning on attending again this year. I think it would be cool to watch the transmission swap.

I recall hearing/reading that you were not allowed to work on the cars there. Maybe it was you were not allowed to have the car in the air? I know last 2 years by the end of the day there are 2-3 saabs getting stuff done to them. However the jobs were fairly small.

count me in. I will definitly attend, and probably enter my 900, which btw is a grm $2008 challenge car, or at least an attempt. It won't be finnished its challenge prep, but should be fully road-worthy by that time.

If the team decides to do RTN are we still going to attend this? RTN is May 24th, but I know it will take a little while to get there. We should be able to make it, but I'm not sure if we will need prep time.

I'm apart of the Saab Club that plans Carlisle so I will bring up if you guys can do some work on cars on the field. Maybe we can even call it a tech-session and make it real official like.

I dunno.....us saab guys get frightened when 'official' or even 'official like' gets mentioned. It's almost like we might be planning ahead  .

I plan on attending, probably won't enter the 99 this year but maybe next year I'll hopefully drive my '93 900 down.
It would be awesome to see the rally car :D
