Are you kidding me? I'd love to see if they had to modify the suspension... I mean there is like NO suspension travel on a Mini... it was probably destroyed into a million peices on the course. POST PICS NOW.

as I mentioned earlier, it must have DNF'ed real early, cause I didnt see it at 12:30 on friday when we saw the first spectator stage... silly FWD BMW's

And that, Matt, is why Subarus should not be in rallies...

says the guy who didn't even bother to go.
Except for the broken light and the now worse cat shield rattle the subaru did superbly. The same cannot be said for the rally prepped mini cooper.

Cat heat shield rattles are best fixed by those really big hose clamps.

I found some "damage" on closer inspection, there is a long dent/gouge along a support rail on the passenger side, basically it pushed the narrow flat section of metal into a v shape, and it rubbed off the undercoating in that area. So in total I've lost one light mount, one light lens and some undercoating.
I'm sure there are many small scratches in the paint but I expect proper treatment with a good wax should clear them up.
I already ordered another set of ff1000's for $89 (less cuz I got in on a group buy). I'll have one extra ff1000 when I swap the mount from the broken lens onto the good lens with a broken mount. Front and center roofrack mounted high beam?

Dude, moutn the light in the middle of your hood and wire a little motor into your steering input so you have a steerable headlight a-la-Tucker.

I have spent a fair amount of time playing with the different lights that are available out there that are not made by Hella. So far I have been impressed with IPF whose cost is higher but the quality and construction well surpasses the equivalent Hellas. I currently have a pair of Baja Designs "Fuego" lights on my 900. They are 4" in diameter and with 100 watt bulbs throw a lot of light. They cost $105 each and are also available in HID form.

Just thought I'd chime in....though you really can't go wrong for a $89 either/

I've always wanted to try Cibies, either Oscars or Tangos...but I can't afford the $200/light pricetag. I run the requisite Hella 500's now, and they do the job pretty well.
