Rear Bumper for '79 99 GL Sedan (NO HATCH)

Postby conoltyr » Tue Aug 05, 2008 8:41 am

Are the rear bumpers for the 99 hatch and sedan interchangeable?

Are there rear bumpers from some early 900's that will also fit my '79 99 sedan? If so, what year?

Thank You!

I think the bumper off any 900 up to '86 will fit but you still need the 99 brackets/hardware.

So it sounds like I can use the mounting hardware from my '79 99 and use it to put on a pre '87 900 bumper. That's good news 'cause 99 bumpers are getting impossible to find.

Just make sure the bolt spacing for the bumpers is the same. I'll check my '80 tonight ('80+ 99s had 900 bumpers but the front bolts in differently than an earlier 99).

My 79 and 80 99s have same bumpers front and rear. Fronts are same as 900, rears look the same but with different brackets. I think 78 and older are not as easy a swap.
