Bosch CIS injector cleaner finds new home...

Postby 99Super » Fri Jan 29, 2010 6:00 pm

Until I get my T5 running, I plan to use CIS on my 16V project.
The stock injectors are too long, so I'm going to use 320i injectors. I found 2 sets in the local yard for about $10.
I took them down to my local VW indy because he lets me use the pump for free if I bring my own injector cleaner.
Well, I guess he hasn't used in a while, and I think *I* was the last to use it.
So, as I'm pumping away, one of the mechanics says I should just take it!
It was bolted to a roll-around cart that also held the remains of a MAC Tools injector cleaning console.
We rolled the whole mess into my van and I'm now the proud owner of a Gen-U-ine Bosch CIS cleaner! :yay:

Anyone want an old MAC injector cleaner?

this post has me baffled.

I thought it was standard procedure to just double up the rubber injector gasket thingies to solve the length issue. and I thought any air nozzle was an injector cleaner.

is this not the case??

Never heard of doubling up the rubber thingies. Besides, I got 7 320i injectors for less than 4 injector bushings and I get my parts cheap. Looks better too...

Meh. I don't have air. Besides, this lets me check opening pressure, hold pressure and leakdown tests.

sounds like you're doing things the right way, and that's good :)

Sometimes, I enjoy a quick fix.

I just unhid my old 16v turbo CIS car on car domain if anyone wants to check it out.

I sold it to my friend so he can make a rally car out of it. Like most rally car projects, it's sitting. :D

Nothing screams, "F it, lets get this project done!" more than mounting the injectors to a strip of wood!

are you a wood screw snob now, jeff?

tell me, what would be the proper fastener to attach fuel injectors to a piece of wood on a turbocharged vehicle? :P

that shit's center cut pine, too

Sometimes I think i've spent my whole life practicing for service.

I guess it worked ;) I hate flat heads. When ever I find them in a non household application, I throw them into the nearest storm drain.

Can I send some injectors for you to clean? My local Saab guru used to do them for me but his pump broke and since I own the only 8 valve car that he has touched in 5 years, he doesnt want to repair it.
