Looking for sleeping options in my truck. The front seat is not an option. Won't try that again. Been on the lookout for a Cowboy Sleeper. Just doesn't seem like a lot of them on the east coast. I really would rather just find one, but suppose I could section a Hi Top cap and glass together my own. Nah,... Cutting and grinding old fiberglass sucks!

Keep in mind with a nose-heavy 99/900 with a tire rack on the front of the trailer is going to have a lot of tongue weight. I've sometimes backed cars onto trailers to try to distribute the load better but sometimes that's not enough tongue weight... Might want to adjust your axle placement :P

It will be a challenge figuring out how to balance the rig with my car and my dads Monte Carlo SS.

It would probably help to get a weight distributing hitch for it

A blown heater core was the start of the last go round. In the end I had replaced the heater core, hoses, thermostat, rad cap, and flushed the system. I replaced the windshield, and fixed the fan speed resistor. Painted the stainless windshield trim and wiper arms, as well as replaced the blades. My coolant/washer tank was broken off the mount, so I scored a clean replacement from the U Pull it.

I managed to push a little snow in the last storm. The plow is working great. Im happy that its gonna start paying some dividends. Next project is to replace the U joints in both drive shafts, as well as front axles. I should probably make a parts list to put a Ford LSD in the rear since its gonna need rebuilt. The front will likely get an ARB locker if I can find a deal on a second hand unit.

I guess I have to be patient in regards to finding a trailer. If I buy a new trailer, Im positive that a day later Ill stumble on the perfect trailer for dirt cheap.

Finally scored a cowboy sleeper. Drove up to North Jersey to pick it up. It will take a little effort to get it spruced up enough to put on the rig. There are some holes in the thing that need to be filled, and it will get painted to match the truck. The windows will come out and get cleaned up and new tint put on. I want to put some sort of liner inside of it and make a pad for the floor.

I have to clean it well before I crawl inside of it, but I think I can lay flat in it and sleep. Its at least 6-8 inches wider than it is between the door panels on the front seat and I could almost fit there.

Nice! If this truck's 'a rockin'... help!

How do you get in, though the rear window of the truck or from the bed?

Thru the back window of the truck. I need to find the rubber seal that goes between the cab and cap, then the window comes out creating an opening into the bunk.

A friend is selling his 04 Sprinter van because he just but a new one. I am going through my budget now to see if I can pick it up. It would be very helpful to have a vehicle capable of hauling bikes, towing trailers etc, all while getting decent mileage and having good road characteristics. This one is the shorter wheelbase lower ceiling model. I think it is a 2500. Looks something like this:

I dig vans, (maybe it's a 70's thing) but no 4x4. Probably good for hauling bikes though, and all your gear, and sleeping in.

4x4 not needed. it should tow a rally car and trailer well enough.

You're going to put it on a Land Rover chassis, right?

if it were $1000 and the body were shot...maybe. neither of those conditions are true. It might get used to haul a landrover though
