Best 14.99 I have spent in a while.

CVS Pharmacy chain sells them.

It's only a 2 channel, but still flies well. Good biaxial helicopter. Once you learn how to set the trim.

Had a go at kitting some Model Airplanes and brushless motors a few years ago.

That looks like fun. I used to carve gliders out of balsa wood with friends when we were little. They flew great! We would get all technical and harvest springs from pens for landing gear suspension and design trim tabs and creative weight and balance ideas. Then we would climb onto the roof and launch them when our parents weren't watching, and they would usually shatter on the ground. Looks like yours are quite a bit sturdier.

I have one of those. Best smiles/dollar in a long time!

I can fly mine up a narrow flight of stairs, turn around, and fly back down. The best thing is when you crash them they don't break.

My friends and I built a model airplane in college for our senior project. I think it had an 0.060 ci engine (1cc) and could carry a 10 lb payload. It was way more expensive than that little helicopter and not nearly as much fun when it crashed.

When we were kids, that 15.00 helicopter would have been 300.00 and would break every time it hit the ground. The cheap electronic stuff from China has changed the world of RC. And the durability of plastics has gotten worlds better since then.

I have crashed mine a number of times, and it takes some abuse. I have had to reattach the tiny motor wires to the circuit board twice already.

Not sure if anyone else on here plays the guitar or really any instrument, but I figured you all may enjoy seeing this. I started playing guitar when I was like 12 or 13 but like many people it slowly ended up sitting in its case more often but in the past few months I've been getting back into playing more often and relearning some of the music theory that I've forgotten. Anyway, what we have here is a new set of pickups and a new wiring harness. The pickups are supposed to be as close as possible to Jimmy Page's #1 '58 Les Paul in its original configuration. The wiring harness is a mix of modern and vintage components. On to the pics...

Taking everything apart and taking stock of what all needs to be done, that is after I removed all the old stuff.

New pickups, wiring harness and knobs.

Reproduction vintage style capacitors and shielded wiring like they would have on a real 58 Les Paul

After wiring was complete before I strung it up and saw if it worked at all

And finally all completed and cleaned for the first time in likely 10 years or so.

Always wanted to learn to play guitar, but it never happened.

I have owned a few of them though...

I just Got Deb's 77 Alvarez-Yairi DY-57 from the shop. It was starting to crack in head so I took it in an had it stabilized.
Worth every penny just to hear her play it...

Guitar is a pretty easy instrument, as in it doesn't take a lot of work to be proficient at it, certainly a long time to be really good but if you just want to goof around with it you can learn 3 or 4 chords and be able to play along with a surprising amount of popular music.

Thats good you were able to get it fixed, my brother used to have a great mid 60's Guild acoustic (very close to the one Nick Drake used) that couldn't be salvaged after it cracked. It still sounded OK but it would lose its tune very quickly and would have been $$ to restore properly.

Another guitar post, this time a Fender Stratocaster....

This body had been sitting around for likely a decade plus so I decided to put it to good use (bonus pic of the extra body I also have that I painted Van Halen style as a joke many years ago). I decided I wanted to make a Jimi Hendrix type strat and paint it a ridiculous color, I used nitrocellulose paint like they would have decades ago...
Image
Image
First few coats of color, called 'Sea Foam Green', which was apparently a late 50's Buick color
Image
Image
First few coats of clear coat on (I added a tinted 'vintage' clear coat that yellowed it a bit to the darker green color)
Image
Image
Mock up while paint dries
Image
Image
After initial sanding (nitro can take months to years to fully cure so I will go at it again in 3-6 months to get a smoother finish)

So far I really love it and it sounds great, I put in reissue '69 pickups and it has a great Hendrix tone to it. :woohoo:
