Turbo Season

Postby airsweden » Mon Dec 20, 2010 11:03 am

I've been driving my old iceracer around a little lately, actually went all the way down to Springfield MA with it this past weekend. One bit of comfort I find in the cold weather is that nasty and brutish turbo pull we all know and love. Comming home last night there wasn't a passing zone I could use here in the hills of VT. The 50 to 80mph jump is eye opening to say the least. There wasn't much traffic anyway but when I did come up on a slower car it only took a blip to put it behind me. Happy Holidays Everybody!

I have an ultragauge hooked up in the mini for reading codes and looking at engine parameters for fun. Isn't it nice to see your intake temp way down in the 40's? At least that's what it is on the mini this time of year.

I was noticing the same thing about a month ago. My 9000 Aero just feels so much better. So much so that I think there must be a temp sensor reading wrong which is why it didn't seem to run well in the summer.

The 195/70/15 snow tires I have on it now make the already-long Aero gearing super long which just ads to the turbo fun.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off :eyebrows:

I think I have forgotten the last time I drove a car with boost. Keep talking,... I may get the bug to get my 85 900T back together. I loved the way mine felt on a cold dry day. My 2000 9-5 Aero was fast all the time. But just that wee bit faster in the cold.

my ultra gauge has shown me intake temps down into the teens, sadly no turbo joy for me.
I always loved winter in the 9000. I still miss that car.
