Well, I finally started moving stuff into my new garage today. It will be a while before I move in cars or the motorcycles just to give the floor more time to set up...

Great looking Man cave. Needs a big screen on the wall and an exhaust hood for the stinky stuff. I love my painted floor. Clean up and finding parts I have dropped is much easier.

Re: Garage is done!
The game is Pole Position II. Deb found it at a garage sale this summer and bought it for my birthday, before I went to Iraq. Works great!
Dennis, two of the windows at the back of the garage open up. I figured I could put a 12" fan in them to suck any noxious fumes out, or maybe a small swamp cooler to keep it chilled in the summer.
Currently, I'm looking for a good used parts washer and plan to use a soy-based de-greaser. The fumes aren't supposed to be toxic, but it still smells funny to me. Works great though...

Re: Garage is done!
Pole Position was cool, but my fave from that era was Spy Hunter, and the runner up was 1943 Battle of Midway with the P38 Lightning. They had both at the pizza joint we bought our beer at when we were teenagers.
Cool shop. Cant tell for sure but Im assuming its attached to the house? Makes a big difference when you work on stinky projects, ie. paint, fiberglass, bondo etc. Get yourself a few large scraps of carpet. Use that for crawling under cars to keep off the cold concrete. What are you doing for heat in there?
What floor coating did you use? I have tried a few with no luck. The real good stuff is that epoxy liquid they pour on the floor, but its too salty for my rented shop spaces.

Re: Garage is done!
Spy Hunter was cool because the car in the game was a Mercedes C111. One of the slickest cars ever...
The garage is attached to the house (the door in the first pic) and it got quite stinky while we were using a kerosene heater to heat the garage for the epoxy, and again while the epoxy cured. I'll be sure to save the really stinky stuff for summer.
A local paint chain carries a well regarded floor epoxy. It cost about $60+/gallon kit. I found 3 gallons at the local Re-Store for $15/gallon kit. I bought all 3, it took 1 1/2. It was getting a bit thin at the end and I may re-coat some high traffic areas in the spring. The color is supposed to be gray, but as you can see in the second pic, it has a green-ish hue to it. Think hospital. But like Dennis said, it will be really easy to see leaks.
I was planning on heading to the carpet remnant store this week...

Salty= expensive.
I tried the stuff home depot sells and it would stick to the tires and peel up. It had poor solvent resistance as well.

I used Benjamin Morre industrial epoxy and I recall about $60 per gallon. $500 to do a 4 car basement floor and sill walls in two coats. Very "salty" but it took away that damp basement smell and looks great. I choose a cream- beige. It has held up very well and no hot tire lift. I did sprinkle in some glass beads for grip. When it is wet, it is slick as ice and nothing worst that taking a header in your own garage.
4 years of parking the cars and walking between them.
Alignment tile, but the stuff around it is the epoxy paint
Re: Garage is done!
John,
The garage looks great! Painted floors are so nice, its just so much easier to clean and sweep at the end of the project. All it needs now is a race car inside!
