Is it an '88 or '98? I didn't think they had those headlights in '88. 460ci engine with that huge box behind it has to do wonders for fuel efficiency... But you could put all your tools in the back and have room to sleep.

hehe... I just thought it was neat. I don't know what you'd do with that lift gate... too high up to really get a car in there easily.

That headlight style was from '87-'91... I'm picking up a '90 f150 tomorrow! Btw , you have a Ford van right? didn't you back swap to the sealed beam setup and use h4 conversions? I like that style better, but wanted EFI. I'll either put some aux lights on or swap the headlights if it doesn't involve the fenders, which it probably does.

Yeah I swapped the flat headlights on my 2003 E350 diesel van to the earlier style 7" rectangular headlights. All I had to change was the headlight buckets & headlight retaining rings, bezzels, headlights, and swap the plug over to the 9003/H4 style. I used some headlights I had on a C900.

I'm not sure about the differences with the truck and if it would be as easy. You might want to take a closer look at a junkyard. Look at prices on Rockauto first to get an idea. Some of the parts are pretty cheap new.

I was thinking maybe the vans shared some similar body panels as the trucks, but it doesn't seem that way... the sealed beam based front ends are completely different..hood, fenders, grill etc... so I tried one of those 3M polish kits on the headlights since they have plastic lenses and were pretty yellowed and hazed over.


They worked pretty well, I just wonder how long they will hold up. I also wanted to get some Hella 181 (chrome rectangular 550s) driving lights too.

That polish seems to help a lot.
You'll have to see what the beam pattern is like. The photo doesn't look very promising but they could be OK with a set of driving lights. I wonder if you could get some generic sealed beam buckets and put some sealed beams in place of the stock lights. You could make some sheet metal bezzels to take up any extra space.

They still probably aren't great, but they are as good as new was...whatever that means. Reflectors are in good shape at least. The before pic actually looks better in the photo than in real life.. . I wish there was something better I could use with the low beams, but I guess some driving lights will be better than nothing for the high-beams. Also could maybe upgrade the harness and check the voltage.

This is why you see KC lights all over pickup trucks.

The polish works for a while, and fades too, so until you find another solution you need to re-polish them occasionally.

You can get the JDM crap headlights for the newer style Ford truck like mine, and put H-4s in them. Dont know what the pattern is on them but probably still an upgrade to stock.

I agree with Geoff. Mount some 200mm buckets on there and use an H4 lens and bulbs, and just fab a bezel to trim it out.

The truck looks pretty nice otherwise.
