Never seen one of these, accessory, or modified from a 9000 or something? Pretty clean looking car.

Looks like it was put in aftermarket. I've seen that a lot in junkyards.
They did make '93s without factory sunroofs.

The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

My 86 8v has none, and my 91 2.1 base car had none.
Most folks assume everything without a turbo must be a 900 S. There was a 900 base model car. Look for roll up windows.

None of the base models ever had sunroofs from the factory, you had to get an "s" to get the sunroof, or a turbo of course.

my '92 base model has power windows, but no cruise and no sunroof. Early base models didn't have center consoles either...but by the early '90s the base models were brought up to *almost* S specs.

My 91 had the full console, no cruise, or power windows or mirrors, no power antenna. Ixnay on the sunroof, but the exterior had blacked out trim like turbo models. I can't recall what else was different.

Re: Tilting glass moonroof in a C900?
I have seen those in 900 base models pretty frequently. I you are lucky, it's a webasto aftermarket unit which likely is better installed than the factory rolling C-900 moonroof.
More frequently, it's a simple glass roof leaky pop-top. C-900's do not need any help leaking...

Less brake more gas!
Re: Tilting glass moonroof in a C900?
That would be really cool if it were a sliding sunroof and not a pop up. I have a couple of oddball Saabs, a 92 900S with cloth seats, and no cruise. It has power windows, manual sunroof, and power windows though. The other one is my brown 78 GL with a factory sunroof. Its the only non turbo/ems I have ever seen with a factory sunroof.

Would like to have one of those preheater units. The Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter vans usually have them...they can be programmed to turn on at a certain time everyday so that they preheat the coolant and warm up the inside of the vehicle. Easier starting and a nice warm cab to go to work in. They burn a small amount of diesel....I am sure those old Saab units ran on gasoline. Still a good idea. Sort of the mechanical version of an electric block heater.

My '94 NG900 is the same color as that '93 C900 .. but that C900 just has a better shape to it. I wish I could sell the NG or trade
for it.
for it.

Re: Tilting glass moonroof in a C900?
The one bad thing on the ng900 was that the crash data in a slight offset head on meant you were probably going to die. We have had a 1995 and 96 and after a series of c900's when I finally saw the crash data a few years later I was really pizzed at Saab. It was better toward the end of the run of ng cars but we were fortunate never to have had an incident.
Gee, block heaters were common as cow flops in Kansas for quite some time. They used to sell one the same size as the hose and two clamps later you were in business and it came with a 3' "tail" so you could plug it in ... of course you had to bend down and disconnect it before driving. I never got around to installing it but it was just a 4" long pipe with a "U" shaped heater inside.
Moonroof thingies were all the rage about the same time a "Chevy Van" was the in thing. Almost every Pinto and Dodge Colt had one. Me, I had my sun roof, moon thinge or whatever open like once on a hot day. Just one more thing to make the headliner on a c900 come down well before God intended and they seemed to do that anyway without the help from a leaky hole in the top.

I contacted the seller for higher res photos and was told the moonroof was aftermarket. Both wheel arches in the rear quarters were crunched a bit (parking garage pillars?)

Same in Germany, although the 900 s came as a turbo without APC (145ish bhp). We called them Softturbo. My '85 900i 5 speed was the most basic model you could get. Roll up windows, no console, no power mirror, no sunroof, no electrical antenna. Just a good basic car with an ugly opera window .

Webasto auxiliary heating units are the best you can get. My dad was a truck driver and had them in his trucks ever since. They were actually required by law in all long distance trucks because the truckers sleep in them. The programming is sweet, especially in the winter.
I see block heaters quite a lot up here in Canada. Not so much in Vancouver but definitely in the interior or further up north.
A shame that you can't get the Fiat Ducato here. A very good alternative to the Sprinter Vans.
