What are you drinking tonight?
What are you drinking tonight?
I figured I would start a beer thread, or what ever alcoholic beverage suits you. I'm enjoying an ice cold Ranger IPA to celebrate the completion of my SiS daily driver project. .mmmmmmm

My own!
This will hopefully be a pretty wild IPA. I had a bag of hops that I was afraid was starting to go stale so I threw it in along with the grain mash, supposedly this is a great way to get crazy amounts of flavors and aromas, albeit at a not too economical rate. But what better way to use an old bag of hops I figured. Ive also started using all German grains in my IPA's to get a little more malt flavor. Then I topped it off with a yeast from Rogue Brewery that I had been meaning to try for a while. I put it all in here which I picked up a few weeks ago so I'm still getting used to it, but it's pretty sweet if I may say.
I got a job at a local homebrew store this past year so I've also been getting awesome deals on ingredients so that certainly helps, that batch up there only cost me $8 a case.

Re: What are you drinking tonight?
I had a PBR while David and I were putting things back together on the white '73. Now I'm making up some hours at work, but when I get home I am going to break out one or three of these while I get caught up on True Blood.
Was on sale at the grocery store, and they are all three actually quite good, I will pick them up again.
I also like the feel-good story associated with the brewery.

A cocktail recipe courtesy of everyone's favorite author, Ian Flemming:
The highly delicious Vesper.
Shake until very well chilled.
Three measures of gin, one of vodka, half a measure of Lillet blanc, and a long, thin slice of lemon.

I haven't tried Bulleit but I've seen it in the store. Supplies are low at home so maybe I'll grab some of that next time.
This was pretty good
But this was nearly as good at half the price
One of my friends swears by this:
And it's not too pricey.
This was our Thanksgiving cocktail this year:
1.5 oz Bourbon
2 oz Apple Cider
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger
shake with ice and strain into a glass.

Re: What are you drinking tonight?
Yesterday I was just helping my friends cook up their first batch of what will hopefully be an Amber Ale. First time I've seen it done.
I buy almost exclusively Oregon beer (hey, there's so much good to choose from) ... Full Sail, Bridgeport, Deshutes, Rogue, MacTarnahans, Widmer ... though I like getting local, not-sold-in-stores beer from the Ram + Three Creeks brewing too.
Enjoying cold beer in my Fortress of Colditude (112-year-old cottage) is difficult in the Winter though, and I am sick of Winter beers .. used to love darks but if I'm going to have more than 1 with dinner its got to be a lighter beer.
I hate IPAs though, blech
Can't wait for warmer temps and Bridgeport Summer Squeeze
