Specifically where are you guys getting B-motor water pump gaskets? My local stores can't order them, and the ones that came with my Triumph branded rebuild kit are too small.
I'd like to not have to make them all myself, but if that's the option I'll of course do it.
Same goes with intake manifold gaskets and cam cover gaskets.

Re: Where do you buy gaskets?
I'm sure others would be able to add more meaningful replies, but I've found a few gasket sets at rockauto.com, they have intake manifold gaskets by themselves as well as other gaskets, I haven't seen any for the waterpump covers there though.
I think I read it on these forums too, but someone mentioned using gasket paper, placing it on the surface that needs the gasket, then hitting the surface with a soft rubber mallet or something

Re: Where do you buy gaskets?
I have just been making them from gasket paper, and did see that RockAuto has intake and exhaust gaskets. I'd really like water pump cover gaskets since they're a pain to make unless you pull the pump shaft out so that it's flat.

Re: Where do you buy gaskets?
I see the Saabsite has the good head gaskets listed...they may have the water pump gaskets. I was on the Skandix website the other day and noticed they have lots of 900 parts and lots of 96 V4 stuff but not even a category listing for 99 stuff

I think there needs to be a gasket for clearance?
Have you tried getting any from Saab? Last time I ordered some they were available (although that was ~2009).

I have not actually, will give that a try. Funny, because that's my usual reaction too. The dealers can still get the really nice stainless C900 key blanks, they're like $12.

I thought the reduced clearance was better for pumping power anyway.

Re: Where do you buy gaskets?
The issue with my early style pump is that even with it pressed all the way down, the bolt head touches the underside of the cover, so I need to rip the white car apart again and stack 2 gaskets on top of each other for more clearance. That or turn down the top of the bolt, which actually I am more tempted to do, but it still has to come apart and get re-sealed.
Seems like I've had them both apart 3-4 times each already and spend 30 mins of what would otherwise be a ~30 min repair job just making gaskets.

you could just remove the cap and carve some material out of the cover above the bolt.

The correct answer!
Your clearance issue sounds really odd to me. I've never seen that on a B20. Is the bearing seating properly in the block?
I'm going to keep one or two of my 99's w/B's partly for nostalgia and partly because I still have a pile of parts. Everything else gets a B202T.

My 99T will ALWAYS have a B engine - they're too cool to have anything else in!
