B234's fit on T5 trannies?

Postby 99Super » Thu Nov 22, 2012 1:25 pm

How did I not know about this?

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... ned-things.

This opens up a whole new world of SAAB-powered-things!

Now the question is, what rear-wheel-drive car/kit to convert to SAAB power?

I love my 99's, but sometimes you just want RWD!

New to me. Btw, the anything with a 5 at the end is Trionic 7, so Viggen would be B235R where as the 9000 Aero motor would be the B234R which is Trionic 5.

Seth,
It's a crazy common trans. Maybe this is what you need to get your 2.3 Rover project moving again.

Knowing GM's love of common bolt patterns, I wonder if this means I could drop a B235 into a 88 Fiero GT?

The T5 (you want a World Class model) is very easy to adapt to just about any bell-housing anyway, plus it comes in various input shaft lengths. It is what I'm using for my Volvo 252R project.

I have a feeling it isn't quite that simple or those 300ZX guys would not have had to make an adapter plate unless they just chose the wrong b234R block.

The trick is that you can buy an adapter to go from the T5 trans to I think its a Vauxhall 16v engine of some sort, which has the same bolt pattern as the T5-era saab blocks. I guess the vauxhall motor is a relatively common swap into the old RWD escorts. Nobody here has seen The Saabler? http://www.webmiscellany.net/saab/carlisle/c11/
