That looks like a really sweet ride.
I hope to come across another free 99 that isn't already gone so I can throw a 16v turbo motor in it and go have some fun on the streets.

thats a really cool car, i had the chance to see it in person when we were over there for the saab festival, and its even more cool in person. thats also a really fun site to browse around, i only wish i could read swedish. as it is i get by with looking at the pictures and guessing at some words
one fun thing that i was able to translate on there though is that there are a few different RWD trannys that will bolt up to a late 9000 4cyl with little to no modifications...that could make for a fun project in the future

How tough is IRS vs. 4 link vs. leaf springs?
now where are those free 99's?
personally i wouldnt do it in a 99, but if i did, id just stick a solid rear in there, since it would be pretty simple to make it handle like stock, just keep the same basic suspension setup in the back.
one of the trannys that works is the T5, its in lots of things, the one i think would be fun is the 80's Camaros. it would need to be badged as a CamAero though, and have lots and lots of power

If I was going to do that I'd weld the front suspension from a 900 into the back of the RWD car to-be. For a tranny I'd think about using one from a Porsche 924/944. They're mounted in the back (engines are in the front) so it should help balance the weight a little better. With 400hp+ from a well sorted B234R going to the rear tires you'd need some more weight back there! Of course... I seem to remember there being a good reason not to use that tranny....
I think a good shell would be a C900 4dr with faded paint, leave the paint as-is Badge it "900 SS" and leave the rest of the appearance stock.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

Stealth RWD 900 beater FTW! Front end pick-up points & suspension grafted into the rear with a transaxle would be sweet. And, hell, how hard would it be to find a donor or three? I wonder if the reason not to use the Porsche tranny is the cost? Maybe a Corvette or Alfa transaxle instead? The motor would sit a lot lower in the bay without a gearbox beneath it, which would be good.
I have pics at home of a rear-engined RWD c900 drag car. The guy grafted front end pick-up points into the trunk and stuck a motor in.
EDIT: Heh heh -- whattyaknow, I posted pics of the RWD 900 on GRM some time ago and they're still up:

yup, no sense in getting rid of a perfectly good engine just cause you put another in the hatch! for simplicitys sake auto trannys would be the way to go, the issue would become where to put the fuel. sounds like a good GRM challenge car to me!
