Scrap heap score

Postby Geoff » Thu Dec 13, 2007 8:47 am

Recently at work some machines have been de-commissioned. By this I mean they pulled the plastic parts off of some million dollar machines and threw them in the metal dumpster. Of course to pack-rat engineers that's an invitation to go scavenge hunting. I ended up getting a bunch of polycarbonate sheets (Lexan) that will be good for rally car windows. They're slightly scratched and thicker than I'd usually use but the price was right. I also ended up with some stainless steel sheets that will make good street car skid plates.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off :eyebrows:

A certain scrounge friend of mine scored me a few dozen Akro-Bins when somebody in corpoarte management declared a certain color could only be used for waste containers and hundreds of bins were unceremoniously heaved. And lets not get into his dumpster recovery to ebay side income...
